The outpouring of admiration is a stark contrast to last summer, when critics tried to shame the “Soul Food” actress.
She took a selfie braving the July humidity in Camden, South Carolina, with her “rescue crew” who were helping a longtime friend clean up their late mother’s house. The photo was taken on the third day of cleaning and was captioned: “No filter… No energy.” The previous two photos also showed Williams in training gear and bare-faced.
Among the harsh comments was one that read: “Her white side is showing… They normally don’t age well.” Several fans defended the former Miss America. One person responded with criticism: “You are used to plastic surgery. She literally looks normal and beautiful.” Another wrote: “At least he has the confidence to post it. Most people half her age wouldn’t be caught without a filter EVER!
Last year, when she appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Williams said she had come to terms with getting older and no longer cared about what others had to say about her – including her appearance.
In recent years, many fans have decried the harsh approach towards celebrities, with many people often reflecting on Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death as proof that the public never really knows what a person may endure in their private lives.
The late actor died of colon cancer in August 2020, months after there was widespread speculation about the cause of his drastic weight loss. Williams has also faced similar comments about her own thin appearance.
