Jabari Banks Teases ‘Bel-Air’ Season 3: ‘Everytime I Read the Script, I’m Shocked’

“Bel-Air” is back and higher than ever.

The solid of the hit Peacock drama is back on set and production is currently underway on the show’s third season. Leading actor Jabari Banks, who plays Will, told the Grio exclusively at the NAACP Image Awards that the recent season was a surprise to him.

“Honestly, every time I read the script, I’m shocked,” Banks said on the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Saturday. “I won’t lie. I’m very, very excited for this season to come back. It takes place during the summer in Bel Air, California. We are highschool students; (We’re) 17, so you’ll be able to get into loads of trouble.

He continued: “There are loads of things happening this season that I’m very enthusiastic about; a lot of the stories start with different characters we have not seen, namely Geoffrey. We’ll do slightly little bit of that too, in order that’ll be fun.

A new edition of the classic 90s comedy series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. “Bel-Air” debuted on Peacock in 2022 to rave reviews. The series, which was created by director Morgan Cooper, stars Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Adrian Holmes as Philip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks and Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey.

Actress Tatyana Ali, who starred as Ashley Banks on the original series, joined the solid of “Bel-Air” in season two as recurring character Mrs. Hughes. In this version, Mrs. Hughes is Ashley’s English professor. Ali said returning to Bel-Air Academy was an “emotional” experience for her after so a few years away.

“I always saw Bel-Air as a separate show, not a reboot of Fresh Prince,” Ali said AND! News in 2023. “It’s its own world; it’s drama. I liked the way it was written. But when I got to the set, and really I was at Bel-Air Academy – on the set where all the kids were walking by of their uniforms – it was crazy. It was like nothing I had ever experienced. The emotional and psychological things that happened were weird in a very great way.

In the interview, Ali elaborated on the deep feelings she experienced Entertainment tonightsaying that after filming ended, “she went back behind one of the walls and (the tears) just came down like a flood.”

“It was just a full-circle moment and what my character was saying to her felt like I was looking at myself in a way,” the actress said. “And so you always connect with your character and the other actors in that way. It’s always personal on some level, but this was just a different thing.”

According to the announcement, the third season of “Bel-Air” is scheduled to premiere in 2024 Diversity.
