“I always knew I wanted to try to win a lot of Grand Slams,” said Gauff, who was honored by Time100 magazine as one of its 2024 Players of the Year. “Sometimes after winning, people lose motivation. It wasn’t a personal challenge for me.”

Following her historic victory, Gauff received praise and congratulations from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Magic Johnson, Spike Lee and Michelle Obama, who invited the 2023 Grand Slam champion to their home and reminded her that “When the demands of fame overwhelm you, it’s OK to say no.

Throughout her life, Gauff overcame adversity each on and off the field. From skipping the crawling and walking stage at nine months old to beating Venus Williams at just 15, Gauff’s mindset has helped her meet the growing expectations of her profession.

“I tied my identity too much to tennis,” she told Time, reflecting on how her on-court losses were affecting her mental health. “It’s a lot easier to play for yourself than for other people. I spotted which you could’t please everyone.”

Now Gauff’s success takes her to the Paris Olympics, where she’s going to compete for the United States. “If I could win every game, I would,” she said. “But I can’t. People don’t go to work and have a good day day-after-day. We just have to present one another grace.”

Building a repute each on and off the pitch, Gauff has landed quite a few brand deals, recognition and articles in publications resembling Vogue. Aside from her fame, the Grand Slam champion is just like every other young adult today: she enjoys time together with her boyfriend, watches TikToks and anime, and speaks out on sociopolitical issues.

“The best thing about Coco Gauff is just her ability to lead a life on and off the court,” she said in the film when asked to explain herself. “On the court he is quite energetic and intense, and off the court he is not mellow but giggly. I feel like I actually have two different personalities. I definitely appear to be I rarely smile when I’m on the court, but off the court it’s the exact opposite.”

She added: “I do tennis, but that’s not who I am. … I would like my legacy to be defined as someone who was obviously a great tennis player, but also someone who put just as much effort and work (into what he does off the court).”

While a lot of us are looking forward to the 2024 Met Gala on May 6, at the very least one event regular is looking back. As regular gala participant Gabrielle Union recently said People Magazinearchives a few of her most memorable red carpet moments to later share with her five-year-old daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, starting the gathering with the dress she wore to her first Met Gala.

“So I have a warehouse full of things that I think, ‘Oh, I want to be able to tell this story and how I felt wearing it,'” Union explained. “It started with me putting my first Met Ball outfit in this beautiful display case.”

The idea was clearly inspired Met Costume Institute — beneficiary of an annual fundraising gala and home to over 33,000 archival fashion artifacts.

“I also went to a museum and then I realized that maybe I didn’t have to display it at home, but I could put it in a temperature-controlled room and preserve the material and the memories. So even if (Kaavia) never wants to wear it, she will have a piece of her mom and the stories that come with it.”

“She is obsessive about our wardrobes…shoes and handbags. It’s all concerning the accessories in my closet and Dwyane’s closet. She literally likes to climb on his clothes racks,” the 51-year-old said.

A woman’s lap dance to Kirk Franklin during Sunday brunch is sending social media into a frenzy

Not everyone was amused by the antics that took place on the Hot Water Cornbread gathering in Los Angeles. The Texas Hold’em themed gathering was a celebration of Southern music and food that brought together over 100 black vendors on May 5.

This somewhat family-friendly event has turn out to be a topic of dialogue as a video of the lady making her appearance in essentially the most unexpected way has been circulating on social media. The original video of the enthusiastic contestant wearing a red wig, denim Daisy Dukes, denim bustier top and denim leg warmers with white heels first appeared on X.

The user’s caption perfectly explains what people were watching: “OMG… I just witnessed someone twerking to Kirk Franklin. I won’t go outside AGAIN. You all can have it.

The specific song was his controversial 1998 album “Revolution” featuring The Family. Some may remember that the New Age gospel artist faced backlash for introducing a secular approach to the genre to appeal to a younger audience.

Twenty-six years later, there is still outrage, this time because a woman decided to climb a pole and twerk for the crown gathered around her. Although many were rooting for her, she reactions online were completely different.

“Definitely not the revolution he sang about… GP YOU ARE FROM MEHHHHH,” an Instagram user jokingly wrote. Someone else asked: “What made her break out into stripper mode?”

A third person commented: “Twerking to gospel music is very distasteful and disrespectful to God! I would never and would never do that!!

Someone else said they were confused “why she had to activate that stupid thing.”

At least one person comically used the video as an opportunity for self-reflection. “I need to learn to trust like she trusts this pole that it won’t fall,” they wrote, apparently noticing that the young lady was hanging around a light pole that was missing a fixture.

Even Franklin got here under criticism for swinging his hips an excessive amount of during his performances. However, he doesn’t seem to care in regards to the critical comments as he continues to enjoy every moment spent on stage. “Kirk has been on a roll lately. He stood for the streets,” one of the comments linking his movements to the film can be read.

The otherwise jovial display comes after criticism of rapper Sexyy Red, who joined country artist Zach Bryn on stage during his recent concert in St. Louis. These two don’t work together; instead, she was invited because the show was in her hometown and was an opportunity for her to entertain the audience with her twerking and splits.

Much like the unidentified woman dancing to “Revolution,” the “Pound Town” artist faced heavy criticism from naysayers who claimed she portrayed black women poorly.

Would anyone try to have a second child with someone they consider is abusive, neglectful, and more? That’s the query Jeezy asks about his estranged wife, Jeannie Mai, in latest court documents obtained by People Magazine.

According to the documents, the 46-year-old rapper claims that after he informed Mai, 45, of his intention to file for divorce in June 2023, she contacted her doctor about the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. .

Moreover, Jeezy’s lawyers claim that after the couple was unable to conceive a second child after a yr of trying, Mai filed the charges “because petitioner refused to have a second child with her and petitioner decided to file for divorce.”

Court documents further state that “In August 2023, Petitioner had to contact her physician directly to inform her that he would not participate in the fertilization of Respondent’s additional eggs.”

Jeezy filed for divorce from Jeannie Mai in September 2023. Since then, the two have been embroiled in tumultuous divorce proceedings and escalating custody disputes over the former couple’s two-year-old daughter, Monaco.

In April, Mai, the former host of “The Real,” accused the “Put On” rapper of multiple reports of domestic violence, including alleged verbal and physical assaults.

“If (he) was as aggressive as the Defendant claims, why would she want to have a second child with him? If Petitioner was so irresponsible and created such an unsafe home environment for the parties’ minor child, why would Respondent be desperate to have a second child with Petitioner? The answer is that the Petitioner is just not aggressive and is just not irresponsible,” the latest documents read.

After previously filing for custody, Jeezy filed for joint custody in early April.

In the latest documents, the musician claims that Mai “introduced conflict, physical and emotional violence and volatility into the parties’ marriage” and that she “was used to obedient men.”

Mai, in turn, accused Jeezy of multiple incidents of abuse and neglect, including hitting her in the cheek and eye with a “closed fist,” pushing her down a flight of stairs and leaving a gun unattended in the child’s presence. She further claimed that Jeezy had “explosive outbursts” during their marriage and drank excessively. Jeezy vehemently denies all the claims, calling them “deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved.”

“This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is absurd,” he said. “It is disheartening to witness manipulation and deception. My primary concern at this time is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court-ordered joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through proper legal channels.”

The couple, who met in 2018 on the set of “The Real”, dated two years earlier Jeezy proposed in 2020; two they got married in 2021. Mai and Jeezy welcomed a daughter into the world in January 2022. Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, can be the father of three other children: Jadarius Jenkins, Shyheim Jenkins and Amra Nor Jenkins from previous relationships.
