From Saturday morning to Saturday night Frankie Beverly and Maze had you covered
Growing up in black America makes you accustomed to certain things, almost by default. Of course, I can not speak for all black Americans, however it looks as if a lot of us share common experiences of laughter, spice, head nodding, and a bunch of other cultural minutiae that, I do not know, make you realize that even when we do not know the main points of one another’s every day lives, we’re all on this together.
One such cultural touchpoint that connects just about all of black America was Frankie Beverly, who died on September 10 on the age of 77. Frankie Beverly & Maze, or Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, or just Maze, seems to have been an element of just about every black person I do know growing up. Frankie was definitely an element of my life; I actually don’t know after I was introduced to Frankie Beverly & Maze’s music; they were just, in a way, all the time there. I remember listening to “Joy and Pain” ad nauseam – my father loved this record. It was the identical with “Happy feeling” AND “The golden time of day.” Frankie Beverly’s music just kept playing, which is form of crazy because searching through his discography since his death, I can not even pretend to know all of the songs or album titles, although I distinctly remember album covers that featured Maze’s hand, which you either know or you don’t.
The undeniable fact that Frankie’s music was all the time playing is considered one of my primary memories from my youth. I associate Frankie Beverly & Maze with my youth, after I was a child growing up into my teens in Frankfurt, Germany. Stereotypically, music was all the time playing on Saturday mornings. I’m sure they cleaned up, how much probably depends upon whether you ask my siblings or my parents, but I remember my dad turning on the stereo and different artists playing through the speakers – artists from Kiara to Hall & Oates, to Janet Jackson, to, in fact, Frankie Beverly & Maze. Based on conversations I’ve had over time, Saturday mornings in lots of, many black homes were devoted to cleansing, but that cleansing all the time had a soundtrack. And it looks as if the soundtrack to sweeping included a number of Frankie Beverly.
The interesting thing is that Frankie Beverly followed just about all of us into maturity. There is a certain barbecue soundtrack that black people gravitate towards. While creating the final word barbecue playlist is a idiot’s errand, I can guarantee without absolute certainty that each single considered one of them incorporates no less than one Frankie Beverly & Maze song, “Before I Let Go.”
I don’t know when “Before I Let Go” became ubiquitous in black America and a staple of black cultural expression, but at this point it’s essential listening. I’m 45 years old and “Before I Let Go,” Maze’s ode to lost love, is played at almost every event I’m going to, whether it’s a club to let people comprehend it’s time to go, a white party, or a backyard barbecue. The undeniable fact that you can hear “Before I Let Go” in a nightclub that also plays songs by Future, Meg Thee Stallion, and “Insert Latest Fad Song Here” is telling. Frankie and Maze have created a song that can outlast their careers and be certain that they survive perpetually. It’s funny that when the tributes to Frankie Beverly began pouring in on social media, my first thought was that Frankie won’t ever rest because I guarantee they play that song in heaven when God needs a moment to himself; No other song evokes more emotions than “Before I Let Go,” and actually not after a bunch of line dancing.
That’s the second thing: next to Cameo’s “Candy,” “Before I Let Go” is a song that will certainly kick off a round of “Electric Slide.” Do you understand how vital your music has to be to be synonymous with a line dance that, just like the song, will outlive everyone who ever did it? I’m convinced that when the world finally explodes, the very last thing that can occur will probably be a cockroach doing the Electric Slide to “Before I Let Go.”
Music
I ponder what Frankie Beverly felt in his later years. For many artists, flowers often appear after they’ve passed away. Frankie could see his influence live. Beyoncé cover “Before I Let Go” It’s popular, but I’m undecided it’s surpassed the unique, or if it ever will — I’m undecided anyone would allow it. The respect that the black community has for that one song is unmatched. We argue about whether it’s the true black national anthem; imagine that — Frankie lived to see people have real, actual debates about whether the song he created together with his group is an important song within the black community. While a lot of us were annoyed that the NFL decided to play “Lift Every Voice and Sing” before the primary game of the previous couple of seasons, I do not think any of us had any problem with “Before I Let Go” since it’s a jam. and it’s that good.
It have to be nice to create something culturally significant—an actual cultural touchstone. The black community is really higher off due to music that Frankie Beverly & Maze is making; a number of groups can say that, but not everyone has songs which have had such generational traction over time. It’s special, and I’m grateful for each memory I even have with my family, friends, and community through the sounds of Frankie Beverly & Maze. It really transported me from my Saturday mornings to my Saturday nights in black America.
You’ve made us pleased, Frankie… before you allow us to go.

Mother of woman shot by Alec Baldwin condemns ‘Rust’ actor for ‘unfairly profiting’ from daughter’s death
Even though his trial was dismissed with prejudice in July 2024, New York-born actor Alec Baldwin, 66, continues to be coping with the fallout from killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza on the set of “Rust” in October 2021.
Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey, is speaking out about her daughter’s death in response to the Nov. 20 screening of “Rust” in Poland.
Hutchins lost her life on the age of 42 when Baldwin held a gun loaded with live ammunition during filming. A fatal shooting occurred on the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The premiere of the film “Rust” will happen on the Camerimage International Film Festival in Poland. In addition to his role in “Rust,” Baldwin also produced the Western.
Solovey provided The Hollywood Reporter with an announcement explaining why she declined to attend the event.
“I always hoped to meet my daughter in Poland and see her work come to life on the screen” – Solovey he said. “Unfortunately, that was taken away from me when Alec Baldwin shot and killed my daughter.”
She added: “Alec Baldwin continues to add to my pain by refusing to apologize or take responsibility for her death.”
The Ukrainian woman accused Baldwin of attempting to “unlawfully benefit from the killing of my daughter. That’s why I refuse to participate in a festival promoting , especially now when there is still no justice for my daughter.”
“They did not get justice for their daughter. Even a court case was denied. This must be irritating,” one person said he wrote on X. However, Baldwin’s defender he tweeted“It’s time to move on… accidents happen. RIP Halinka.”
Commentators on Daily mailThe article about Halyna’s mother hitting Baldwin was also necessary. For example, someone wrote: “They shouldn’t have made this movie. Poor lady. RIP to her and condolences to her family.”
A like-minded commenter wrote: “No shame. The project should be rejected.” Others suggested boycotting “Rust.” The comment read: “I definitely won’t watch out of respect and I think a lot of people will think the same.”
The support concerned the premiere of the film distributed by The Avenue. The fan argued: “It’s a movie. There was a tragedy. Many famous films have death associated with them.”
The initial manslaughter charges filed against Baldwin in January 2023 were dropped before a New Mexico grand jury indicted the Emmy winner in January 2024 on manslaughter charges.
Baldwin’s criminal trial was dismissed since the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office improperly inventoried ammunition from the case. A judge ruled that the previous “30 Rock” solid member couldn’t receive a good trial since the defense team did not have access to evidence.
“As prosecutors, we have an obligation to disclose all evidence. “When I learned of the undisclosed evidence this morning, I believed it was the right decision to dismiss the case,” said Special Prosecutor Erlinda Ocampo Johnson. TMZ in July 2024
In February 2022, the American Hutchins family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin, the production of “Rust” and other defendants. In October 2022, a settlement was reached by which Halyna’s husband, Matthew Hutchins, received an executive producer credit on the film.
“We all imagine that Halina’s death was a terrible accident. “I’m grateful that producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s latest work,” Matthew said in an announcement to per. Hollywood reporter.
In response to the legal agreement, Baldwinattorney Luke Nikas stated, “Throughout this difficult trial, everyone had a special desire to do what was best for Halyna’s son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to resolving this tragic and painful situation.”
There appears to be a disagreement amongst members of Halyna’s American and Ukrainian family regarding the Rust shooting. Attorney Gloria Allred represents the deceased operator’s mother, father and sister, who live in Ukraine.
Allred told The Hollywood Reporter: “The decision to not even call the family to say he’s sorry is cruel and a disgrace to Halyna and her memory. Now the choice has been made to advertise “Rust” to buyers in an effort to profit Alec Baldwin and others who played a task in Halyna’s death.
The Camerimage International Film Festival focuses on the art of cinematography. The interest in seeing “Rust” on the event was so great that a festival website was created apparently it crashed on November 19, when tickets for the premiere went on sale.
A message appeared on the web site: “The Camerimage portal is currently undergoing system maintenance.” Director Souza and recent cinematographer Bianca Cline were chosen as post-show panel speakers.

‘Martin’ finale photos surfaced after years of blame on Tisha Campbell’s lawsuit against Martin Lawrence prompting fans to change the script
Fans of the beloved Nineties comedy series “Martin” are investigating the circumstances behind the popular series’ questionable ending after online discussions.
It began after a number of easy X-plots that brought up the sexual harassment lawsuit that Tisha Campbell-Martin filed against the show’s star, Martin Lawerence, which contributed to its conclusion in 1997. The lawsuit and its aftermath left a fancy legacy amongst fans, who consider they never received full closure.
On November 18, an unrelated post read: “What TV show had the worst ending?” which once more led to a renewed conversation about “Martin’s” legacy.
Several responses stated that the Fox series’ ending left much to be desired, and a few detailed why.
This person he blamed it on Campbell. “Only because Tisha Campbell filed a lawsuit against Martin, the producers and HBO after accusing him of sexual harassment.”
One follower posted: “You are too young to remember that Gina (Tisha Campbell) had a very limited role after leaving the show due to sexual harassment and harassment claims from her and Martin’s cast. That was one of the reasons for the ending.”
Another user posed the query is, “Tisha Campbell is lying to Martin or has it just changed?”
However, some consider that Lawrence played an enormous role in the demise of his own program.
“Imagine all the insults and fights because I said big-headed Martin molested Tisha Campbell,” she added. questioned one person.
Another said: “It was ruined by Martin’s weird obsession with Tisha Campbell that gave us this ending. In this scene they’re in two separate rooms and it is gloomy. Like he ruined his own ending.
A separate post on November 16, which appeared after the spectacle of Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match, expressed the same sentiments.
Some User X urged people to remember Tyson’s violent past against women and to think of the victims as he received the praise and admiration that followed his efforts during the fight.
Replies to the post reflected on the impact this event had on Tyson’s profession and the way, despite the fact that he was convinced, he received support from people like Lawerence.
“Martin Lawrence wore a Free Mike Tyson T-shirt on his popular TV show in support of the convicted rapist. This is how much “rape accusations ruin a man’s life and career” – one of them person published with a photograph of the comedian as proof.
Other user then issued a cryptic message encouraging people to “Sue Google Martin Lawerence Tisha Campbell…”

Shaunie has set new rules with second husband Keion Henderson after her traumatic marriage to Shaquille O’Neal
‘Basketball Wives’ producer Shaunie Henderson has been very open about her marriage to NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and the way devastated she was when she came upon he had repeatedly cheated on her.
Shaq himself admitted to being a serial cheater and publicly apologized for his behavior of their marriage. So it was no surprise when she admitted that she entered right into a relationship with Pastor Keion Henderson, carrying with her loads of baggage stemming from her past experiences with the previous Los Angeles Lakers star.
Reflecting on her marriage to Shaq, she admitted that fidelity is a top priority when on the lookout for a new man and told Henderson that he had to deal with a couple of “deal breakers” if he was to be her man.
While she talked about boundaries within the early stages of their relationship on “The GrOOw Zone” podcast last week, the preacher said she made an inventory about them.
“I think I came in with boundaries that aren’t there anymore,” Shaunie said after admitting that boundaries in a relationship are changing.
“Okay, tell people the list you gave me,” the reverend told his wife of two and a half years.
Although she stated that it was not an inventory, she noted that there have been certain things she didn’t tolerate. Shaunie stated, “The one who… no cheating… That one. … I got here with deal breakers, like for those who do that, I’m out. I do not have it.
Shaq has spoken openly about how his infidelity and broken vows contributed to the breakdown of his marriage to Shaunie. In a revealing conversation on “The Pivot Podcast” in 2022, the NBA legend admitted to leading a “double life” and took full responsibility for his or her breakup, saying: “I used to be offended. She was amazing. It was all me.
In addition to the contestant’s confessions, Shaunie recently revealed in her memoir “Undefeated: Changing the Rules” that she doubted she ever truly loved Shaq during their marriage.
Reflecting on the deep issues that plagued their relationship, she noted that she seemed in love with the life-style of marriage and motherhood.
Update: Video and audio
Shaquill O’Neal claims he was to blame for his divorce from Shaunie O’Neal. Shaq said: “I didn’t protect her and I didn’t protect the oath”#shaquilloneal #shaunieoneal pic.twitter.com/DJD1K4FUhn
— Media On Blast 🟢 (@mediaonblast) April 19, 2022
Regardless of how Shaunie felt on reflection, his infidelity hurt her deeply. She was also offended by allegations that Shaq had an affair with fellow “Basketball Wives” star Laura Govan, who was engaged to fellow NBA star Gilbert Arenas on the time and was a family friend. Although each denied the allegations, leaked text messages allegedly between Govan and Shaq increased tensions, contributing to their separation and eventual divorce in 2009.
Despite the challenges, Shaq and Shaunie remained committed to raising their 4 children in a friendly way.
While this understandably set the tone for Shauna’s developing relationship with Keion, it did introduce some uncertainty that wasn’t necessarily present in the course of the date.
As their relationship deepened, Shaunie found that she began to query whether it was fair to impose such restrictions.
“Is it fair to enter into a relationship and impose restrictions on a person for a crime they did not commit?” Keion asked her. Shaunie admitted that this was not the case, but explained that it was a part of her healing journey.
While its boundaries on the time reflected vital needs, additionally they served as partitions, potentially limiting the organic development of their connection. Shaunie noticed that she wasn’t alone on this – many individuals enter new relationships with a defensive attitude, projecting the pain of the past onto someone new. For her, eliminating these boundaries was a process that took trust and time.
Now with a stronger footing in her relationship, Shaunie now not sticks with deal breakers. Instead, it emphasizes open communication and mutual respect. Now, together, they use their experiences to help others overcome similar relationship challenges.
Shaunie and Keion have been married since 2022 and that is their second marriage. Keion has a teenage daughter with his ex-wife Felicia Henderson.
