Eddie Murphy’s son Eric and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin are engaged

Actors, comedians and longtime friends Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence will probably be family! On November 27, Murphy’s oldest son, Eric, proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Jasmin, who can be Lawrence’s oldest daughter. Sharing their impressions of the moment, the couple posted an engagement video summarizing the proposal Instagram.
“We are engaged!! God has truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny,” the couple captioned the video. “We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter. Special thanks to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!!”
In June 2021the comedians’ children announced their status on social media. At the time, Eric shocked fans by posting a selfie along with his then-girlfriend, now fiancée, writing, “I LOVE YOU @jasmin_lawrence #myotherhalf #equallyyoked #iloveyou.”
Weeks laterJasmin followed suit by posting a birthday tribute to Eric by which she declared how “extremely blessed” she felt to know, love and have Eric by her side. While the 2 share the unique experience of getting celebrity fathers, Jasmin previously said that their fathers didn’t introduce them. Instead, it was her uncle who brought them together.
“They weren’t even our dads – and they made two movies together; they’re friends,” she told InTouch Weekly in January 2022. “We became really good friends because we had a number of things in common, and over time, you already know, it became greater than that.”
Since the 2 announced their relationship, Lawrence and Murphy have expressed approval of their children dating — a lot in order that it almost appears like the comedians were previewing their kids getting married. The two comedians joked about who would pay for a possible wedding and the opportunity of Eric and Jasmin having a “comedy super baby” together.
In February 2023, Murphy and Lawrence jokingly debated who would foot the bill if the couple decided to get married.
“(Eddie and I) haven’t talked about it,” Lawrence said during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” “We kind of stay out of their business and let them do their thing, respect their business… (But) I’ll try to make Eddie pay for (the wedding).”
To which Murphy replied, “It’s not like that.”
“My daughter (Bria) just got married and I had to pay — I really had to pay,” the “Coming 2 America” star continued, referencing the long-standing tradition of getting wedding expenses covered by the bride’s father or family. “You have to do the same, Martin.”
“Don’t try to change it – don’t try to change no, don’t change Hollywood,” Murphy warned. “You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin will pay for it.”
