Trump supporter calls video ‘wicked’ for racism and alleged racial appropriation

The widespread acclaim of “Wicked” means the film could have its second installment in theaters for a second week, with tickets sold on the domestic box office reaching $240 million. The film is an adaptation of the award-winning Broadway production starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The musical and film are based on the 1995 book “Wicked,” which was inspired by L. Frank Baum’s 1900 kid’s novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Given all of the hysteria surrounding one among the 12 months’s biggest hits, it’s no surprise that some critics did not suspend reality for the film’s two hours and 40 minutes.

“American Sunrise” host Gina Loudon is amongst those that felt that producers weren’t reinventing a piece of fiction but were as an alternative intentionally sending a message about race.
During a Thanksgiving show hosted by conservatives on the far-right network Real America’s Voice, Loudon said, “I was very excited about the idea of seeing an interpretation… I should have known it was Hollyweird.” I must have known they’d attempt to wake him up in any way they may consider. The Donald Trump loyalist continued and expressed his disdain for Grande’s casting.
“Let’s start with the fact that in this particular movie they have Ariana Grande, who is obviously Latina, playing the role of a petite, blonde, white, really villain when it comes down to it. Honestly, I found racism and racial appropriation offensive,” the MAGA supporter continued, adding that she particularly disliked the one-dimensional portrayal of white characters with which she was obsessed.
“Not all white people are stupid and bad,” Loudon said, “and I’m just sick of this story. I feel like that is where it began and in a way it lost me.
ON YouTubeone commenter apparently agreed with the Women for Trump 2020 co-chair.
They wrote: “There is some truth in what I feel. So many movies are remade to have the main character be black. Hannibal, really? Hannibal was definitely white. Watch a lot of these videos. Historical films and figures should be visually and historically accurate. Each of us has our heroes and villains. It got to the point where it became obvious.”
Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) team up to inform the story of Hannibal – considered one among the best military commanders in history. The film will present crucial battles he led against the Roman Republic. Coming soon to Netflix! pic.twitter.com/KInIjkagSV

However, the study comments on the platform and from fans of The Neighborhood Talk reveals that an awesome number of individuals had quite the other opinion. Several reactions called Loudon a “Karen” pretending to be white individuals who “want to feel discriminated against so badly.”
A user commented, “I don’t know if it’s just me, but when people use the word ‘I woke up,’ I automatically feel like there’s a hint of R4cism in it.”
Another person noted, “The movie is based on a play that started in 2003. The show is based on a book from 1995. “To get mad and say this is ‘woke and racist’ is crazy because it was created before the term ‘woke’ even existed.”
Countless people have come to the defense of the “7 Rings” singer, who the media personality incorrectly labeled as Latino. One such defense was, “So because she saw her name was Grande, she thought she was Latina, lol… Ariana is a white Italian.” Someone else suggested that Loudon take his rant elsewhere. “The scriptwriters are white, he has to face them,” we read within the comment.
And before too many individuals got outraged over “bad teas on YT,” a commenter advised, “Black persons are standing down. This is a “Whyte on Whyte” query. Have a pleasant rest, BW.
“Wicked” landed in a row days after its theatrical debut when a TikTok content creator shared that “dark magic” and “spells” led to her 12-year-old falling off a roof while attempting to fly on a brush. Amidst the criticism, the girl explained that her review of the film, like lots of her other posts, was intended as a sarcastic comedy.
