Terrifying claim that ‘something is moving’ as Keith Lee’s food force closes popular Seattle sushi bar
Popular food critic Keith Lee, 28, is back within the news amid health issues following an experience at a Seattle restaurant.
On November 10, Lee posted a mostly positive video review of FOB Sushi Bar on his TikTok page. The Las Vegas resident spent $15 on salmon nigiri, spicy salmon belly, sashimi and more.
“Since we’ve been here, this has been one of our most recommended places,” the web star told her followers. He then explained that FOB Sushi sells buffet meals by the pound.
Lee continued, “They have over 30 different options, but the only thing for me is that I’m allergic to shellfish, so most of the options they offered were shellfish only, but I still managed to get about 10 of them.”
He also noted that “the rice was overcooked,” but other items tasted “fresher and much tastier.”
Despite his enthusiasm, people within the comments on his TikTok post noticed something strange in regards to the sushi Lee ordered. Onlookers claimed to have seen a living creature in his meal.
“No, that fish definitely moved at 1:50 (time stamp of Lee’s video)” – one person he wrote. Similarly, one other TikTok user added, “No, there was a worm in one of them.”
An alleged parasite in Lee’s food has fans concerned that he may change into unwell. For example, someone commented: “Keith, please tell us everything is okay. This is my biggest fear.”
Following online outrage over Lee’s viral clip, FOB Sushi Bar took to Instagram to handle food anxiety.
“We were honored to recently welcome Keith Lee to FOB Sushi and are incredibly grateful for his visit and the support from everyone who stopped by,” read FOB Sushi Bar statement.
It continued: “Recently, a video has been circulating on the Internet claiming that worms were found in our sashimi. We want to address this claim directly and assure you that it is completely false.”
FOB Sushi Bar’s Instagram post also said: “As far as the video is concerned, the movements observed in the fish may be due to natural elasticity or the pressure of chopsticks applied to its structure.”
In a second TikTok video shared on November 17, Lee responded to concerned reactions to his outing at FOB Sushi.
“Someone slowed down the video and it actually looked like something moved,” Lee said. “One thousand percent transparency, I couldn’t see anything until someone pointed it out to me.”
“I can’t confirm or deny what it was,” he added. “But I can confirm that I’m fantastic. I appreciate the individuals who actually reached out to me and were concerned about me. I’m fantastic.
Lee explained that he made one other video because apparently one other FOB Sushi patron was hospitalized. Reports of a client requiring medical care haven’t been confirmed.
Additionally, the previous mixed martial arts fighter responded to the establishment’s public statement.
“For a restaurant to post a statement indicating that I am the one holding the sushi or chopsticks a certain way means that the sushi has moved, I personally disagree with that.”
The Detroit-born web personality also called on the FOB Sushi bar to take responsibility for possible wrongdoing.
Next days of inspection, FOB Sushi Bar announced its closure its Seattle and Bellevue locations on November 18, citing “food safety concerns.”
“Your health and safety are our highest priorities. We are conducting a radical investigation to handle this example and can take all obligatory measures to stop it from happening again,” the FOB Sushi team wrote.
There were mixed reactions in FOB Sushi’s comments to the outage announcement. Some supporters blamed Lee for harming small business, while others criticized the restaurant.
“It’s sad. Apparently it wasn’t a worm. It’s the identical color as the fish,” one person argued. Another person replied, “I’ve never seen sushi bend and move by itself without personal manipulation.”
Someone gave advice to FOB Sushi Bar by posting: “Maybe change the concept from buffet line to traditional sushi bars, I mean they’re doing it for a reason.”
Commenters also had so much to say in regards to the owners of FOB Sushi, who initially blamed the way in which Lee held his chopsticks for his or her sushi appearing to maneuver.
“You’re shutting down the entire net to check your chopsticks, aren’t you? Crazy job,” someone joked. One response to this comment was, “They just came out wrong.”
Restaurant co-owner Vincent Chen had previously praised Lee for causing such a rise in profits by doubling sales after his review.
“I think it’s called the ‘Keith Lee effect’” – Chen he said King 5. “People like to come from everywhere. … I saw someone wanting to make the hour-long drive to try us out.”
According to local store King 5, FOB Sushi Bar received a satisfactory rating during an inspection by the Washington State Department of Health in January 2024. No health violations were found at that time.

NBA star Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan, is attending Syracuse University
The apple doesn’t fall removed from the tree. This weekend, Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony celebrated their son Kiyan’s long-awaited college decision. As considered one of the highest 40 recruits in men’s basketball, the 17-year-old decided to proceed his father’s legacy by attending Syracuse University, Anthony’s alma mater. Kiyan announced the news along along with his parents in an episode of the show “7 p.m. in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony” podcast.
“I just look at Syracuse and see what could be done there if I were to go there,” Kiyan said, explaining his decision. “Top people I’m near are already coming; young coaching staff with whom I can establish contact. (It’s) near home, a 45-minute flight. (USC) would ask me to catch a six-hour flight to California. Just all this after which ACC; they play Duke, Carolina, they play all the great schools. All of this plays into why I selected Syracuse.
According to Carmelo, the choice got here after much debate and hesitation from the teenager.
“I’m glad he decided to make this decision,” said the previous NBA star, while his ex-wife La La emphasized that that they had no influence on their son’s final decision.
“I think it’s important to say… Kiyan really made this decision,” she added. “I feel it’s an incredible decision. (Syracuse is) an incredible school they usually worked really hard with recruiting and just made him feel like a priority. They were great and I mean those are big shoes to fill. But at the identical time, this is his moment and his line, so it is time for him to create his own.
While the NBA star shared his “input on all schools,” Kiyan says his growing relationship with the Syracuse staff solidified his decision.
“From the first day they started recruiting me, they made me feel like family,” he said ESPN. “My dad’s name on the facility is special, but I want to go in there and make my own name, and I’ve already done that with my involvement in the offseason, training in the mornings, playing in camps, playing laps in the stadium.”
Just as Kiyan desires to forge his own path in basketball, his parents at all times wanted him to have a way of individuality. La La claims that she and Carmelo intentionally didn’t name their son after the previous NBA star due to the “added pressure of being called Carmelo Anthony.”
“We did it on purpose so he could chart his own path and be himself and do things his own way,” she said. “I don’t think it takes all the pressure off, but a little bit. I just told (Kiyan), “You have to do your thing. Even when deciding on college, do what you think is best. You don’t have to just do everything your dad did… you have to do what makes sense for you.”
