A Florida road rage victim says her attacker was ‘smiling and laughing’ as he hit the gas and ran over her along with his Jeep, breaking her leg, rib and pelvis and causing severe internal bleeding. Jermeria Holycross is now hospitalized and is lucky to be alive, her family said.

“I think the biggest thing that sticks out to her, that she keeps saying, is that he just smiled at me and laughed when he hit me. She’s very shocked and that’s just the image in her head,” said her aunt, Misty Moore. Tampa Bay Times.

Florida resident Boris Twillman, 57, was no stranger to police. At the time of the Aug. 10 road rage attack, he was already out on bail on multiple charges, including assault, battery on an elderly person and domestic violence by strangulation, allegedly involving his own mother and son, the outlet reported.

Shortly after allegedly hitting Holycross in Largo, Florida, Twillman openly called Largo police to report that “something had happened” on U.S. 19, but claimed he was “not personally involved in the accident.” He was quickly arrested for attempted murder and leaving the scene of a serious injury accident. He is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on two bonds totaling nearly $1 million.

On Aug. 10, Holycross, 24, was driving on U.S. 19 near East Bay Drive with her younger brother and her boyfriend’s two young children when she noticed a Jeep aggressively following her, local news channel WTVT reported.

Before she could draw back, the Jeep suddenly sped up and hit the bumper of her Volkswagen Jetta, she told authorities. Traffic was stopped, and Holycross took the chance to jump out of the automobile to inspect the damage, her mother, Tammy Holycross, told local media. But the moment she got out of the automobile, Twillman hit the gas, hitting her and pinning her between two cars. He then dragged her along the driving force’s side, according to the arrest report obtained by Law & Crime.

“When he hit the car, she got out because traffic was stopped and she wanted to see the damage,” Tammy said. “Well, while she was looking, he started looking at her, smiled and laughed, hit the gas and ran her over in front of my son and her boyfriend’s two kids.”

What made this already disturbing situation much more dramatic was the actual fact that Tammy noticed that the kids had seen her hit her face against the vehicle’s window.

“They were screaming and saying this little girl had just been killed. Her face hit the glass, and then the kids saw it and blood started pouring out. So it was definitely a bad sight for anyone who had to watch it,” she said. In addition to multiple broken bones, Holycross suffered internal bleeding, severe facial lacerations, skin burns and the loss of her toenails.

According to one of the witnesses to the attack, one of them unsuccessfully chased Twillman. GoFundMe created to help Holycross with medical bills. Police arrested him later that day, issuing a press release saying the suspect “exhibited extremely dangerous and reckless behavior.”

“This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated on Largo city roadways,” the Largo Police Department said in a press release.
