Atlanta Media Company Diamond Diaspora Media announces its inaugural Black Celebrity Week celebration

Atlanta’s best gather for a week-long experience unlike anything town has seen before. Powered by Atlanta Black Star, Black Star Week is a week-long celebration specializing in health, wealth and mutual generosity.
The inaugural series of events, happening June 17-22, will provide every week of social events, empowering conversations, and interesting and academic activities that can help unite the diaspora, starting on Monday.
“Black Star Week celebrates our rich cultural heritage, drives economic growth and fosters a spirit of mutual generosity and cooperation,” said Neil Nelson, CEO of DDM Group. “This event highlights the vitality of the city and our commitment to empowering our communities.”
“Mutual generosity is about helping each other. By giving and receiving support, we create a cycle in which everyone benefits. When one person helps another, that person is more likely to help someone else in return, creating a community where everyone cares for each other,” Nelson added.
Nelson and his team, including DDM Group Chief Operating Officer Tracy Donnelly and Director of Business Development Osei Kweku, created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Black people in Atlanta to rejoice.
Black Man Lab advocates will proceed their mission of mentoring and empowering youth by hosting a mentoring panel on Monday, June 17. The organization was founded in 2016 by Black fathers and sons to enhance relationships and communication between generations of Black men.
Join us on Tuesday, June 18 at the most popular Black-owned art gallery within the Atlanta metro area, ZuCot Gallery, where local people leaders openly share their stories of progress in hopes of inspiring others. This event is presented in partnership with Shine2Inspire, a Black-owned organization that accepts and collects backpacks and other school supplies all year long to donate to children in need.
The next day, take time to nourish your mind, body and spirit with a day of fellowship. On Wednesday, June 19, get your heart rate up on the local organization’s Metropolitan 5K Community Run, hosted by local fitness brand Cause of EFFECT in celebration of Juneteenth.

Later that evening, those of you who own or rent bikes can join the Atlanta-based Dope Pedalers cycling club, founded by Jay Reid. The group offers regular weekly rides around town, but during Black Star Week they host a three-hour night group ride to advertise unity.
Kweku believes that now greater than ever is the time to cultivate our own culture and find alternative ways to create community.
“First of all, we focus on community development and I think that the key is the community that we believe in and that we know exists,” he said in an interview.
“The more we move forward, I see a new community emerging from Atlanta that, in turn, can really impact other cities that have Black influence across the country and even around the world. This is a global celebration of the black community at the highest level,” he added.
Black Star Week events also include a lunch and learn on the Riverside Epicenter in partnership with The Brand Architects, also on Wednesday. The two-hour discussion will give attention to overcoming stigmas, looking for help and supporting men’s mental health, and the unique challenges skilled athletes face. Guest speakers include Super Bowl champions Dominique Easley, Jonathan Casillas and Chris Hubbard and others.
To stay entertained during June’s celebration of Black Music Month, tune in to the sounds of Afrobeats, soca, reggaeton, dancehall, reggae, hip-hop and more at certainly one of our music houses and markets. Friends and family are welcome to enjoy the nice atmosphere and lots of food.
