The Late Lauryn Hill to Concert Goers: “You’re Lucky I Got to Perform on This Blood Ras Stage”
Lauryn Hill is understood for a lot of things. Punctuality will not be one in all them. The singer has developed a repute for showing up late to her performances, which has made her the victim of countless online jokes and fan complaints.
The hip-hop icon addressed her chronic show tardiness in the course of the Los Angeles stop of her twenty fifth anniversary tour on November 4.
Hill was joined on stage by her mother, who held the singer’s hand as she addressed the gang.
“When an album sold so many records and nobody got here along and said, ‘Hey, would you want to make one other one?’ So I traveled all around the world and played the identical album over and another time. Because we survived, and never only did we survive, but we thrived.
The mother of six was applauded by the audience, but some social media users didn’t accept Hill’s explanation.
“If God is a punctual God, why does he always…. Whatever 😂 I love you Ms. Lauryn 💜😩 I’ll mind my own business 😂,” Keairalashe said on The Shade Room’s Instagram page.
IG user @_Journeywithjas_ chimed in, quoting the lyrics to Hill’s hit “Doo Wop That Thing. “
“Little girl, respect is only a minimum.” Time is our best asset. Be on time. You have traveled all around the world due to love people have on your gifts and the sacrifices people made to spend money to see you. Entitlement gives me a tough time; it doesn’t matter who it’s.”
This is not the primary time the multi-talented artist has responded to fan complaints. In 2016, she explained her tardiness on Facebook.
“I’m not late for shows because I don’t care,” HIll wrote. “And I don’t have anything but love and respect for my fans. The challenge is to align my energy with the time, take something that may not easily classified or contained, and check out to make it available to others. I do not have an on/off switch. I feel best when I am open, rested, vulnerable and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible.
The tour also serves as a reunion together with her former Fugees bandmates. The trio will perform several times in North America. More information in regards to the tour might be found on the web site website.

Images by Dave Benett/Getty
Earlier this week, Model of the Year nominee Anok Yai appeared at the Fashion Awards gala at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And regardless that the night ended there controversial joke for this yr’s award, the look of her hair stood out, as did her skilled achievements.
Paired with an archival John Galliano gown from 1994, her hairstyle was as avant-garde as the supermodels of the day – and was the most groundbreaking look of the night. On the foundation, a pixie cut with micro-mushrooms framed her sculpted features, and the sides stopped just at the tip of her eyebrows.
However, the summit took an unexpected turn. Almost like a headdress, straight, long strands gathered at the top of the head, overlapping right into a bow. The look was romantic and evoked the essence of Mugler’s Alien Hypersense, of which it’s the face. “I carry a bottle in every purse, it’s an addiction” Yai said in front of the red carpet.
The iconic outfit was repeated by Rihanna, who two days later arrived in an identical style at the thirty eighth annual Footwear Awards Gala in New York. With slight moderation – longer, blunt bangs and full updo – hairdresser Nafia Biała used an identical technique. Could this be the hottest hair trend of the season? These two icons actually suggest that.
