How Kamala Harris and Democrats Can Solve Their Black Male “Problem.”

Published

The unrest for Black men, the Democratic Party’s second-most loyal voting bloc, continues this election cycle as polls consistently show a lag in support for presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.

A recent poll commissioned by Dr. Tillery shows that Kamala Harris can improve her approval rating amongst young Black male voters by 8-15% by tailoring her campaign message to how Donald Trump poses a direct threat to Black men, namely regarding to policing and rollbacks of civil rights and diversity and equality programs.

“The Democrats played it wrong and set themselves up to lose,” said Tillery, who last fall warned the then-Biden campaign about polling showing young black men were moving away from Democrats.

Tillery, who’s polled by his data firm 2040 Strategy Group, points to key policy issues that he believes are driving young black men away from Trump and back to Harris and the Democratic Party.

According to the most recent questionnaire from the Alliance for Black Equality, following Donald Trump’s record of supporting national stop-and-frisk policing and Project 2025’s proposals to eliminate DEI programs – a key tool to combat racial discrimination – young Black men’s concerns about harm to Black men increased by 23 % and 16% respectively.

The interviewer noted that black men also reacted positively when hearing about Harris’ background and her identity as a black woman. The Alliance for Black Equality can be hitting six figures ads targeting young black men with the persuasion points mentioned above regarding Harris and Trump.

“They get one of our ads that not only says the vice president is gorgeous and black, but also look what this old guy wants to do,” Tillery said. “He desires to stop you and search you. He desires to make it easier in your white boss to discriminate. “These two things are the cocktail to win this election in the next 14 days.”

Angel, a former Maryland state delegate, said she canvassed and talked to black men in cities like Philadelphia and found what their social media algorithms were displaying was “crazy.”

“Many of us who are in the political sphere … have no idea how deep this issue is,” Angel said.

“They hear it from bizarre people too. So for them it’s more trustworthy because they do not trust politicians.”

A political operative believes that the deputies the Harris campaign has dispatched to seek advice from Black voters usually are not appropriate “trusted messengers.”

Several Black men are campaigning on Harris’ behalf. Some of them are influential Democrats like former President Barack Obama, who will rally with Harris in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday.

Angel argues that the campaign would work higher with younger black male voices, reminiscent of web influencers and hip-hop stars, or those that come from certain life experiences, reminiscent of the Central Park Five, who were wrongly convicted in 1989 ., and later acquitted in 2002, and recently filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump.

Dr. Tillery agrees that President Obama, whom he described as “preachy,” will not be the most effective messenger for disaffected younger black men.

He explained: “That’s another weakness of the Democratic campaign… they’re sending Gen X and baby boomers as messengers.”

“We think a good solution will be to meet them where they are, in the media they like and already use, with a bit of humor and imparting a lot of knowledge,” he said.

Tillery said a greater strategy to use President Obama can be to “hit the road with young millennials and Black Gen Z influencers.” He continued, “So state your point and get out of the way.”

Criticisms aside, Dr. Tillery noted that Harris has significantly improved her approval rankings amongst younger black men surveyed by the Alliance for Black Equality.

After interviewing Charlamagne Tha God, Roland Martin and The Shade Room and publishing her “Agenda of Opportunity for Black Men,” Tillery said Harris was “starting to engage with young black men.”

He noted that support for the Democratic presidential candidate increased from 49% to 59%. But he added: “The problem is that she’s still 20 points away from where she needs to be.”

Harris’ campaign continues its efforts to achieve young Black men through paid media content partnerships with The Shade Room and Hip Hop Hollywood. Both city media outlets have launched digital series to achieve black voters. The Shade Room released a six-episode series titled “My Black Job,” which features stars reminiscent of Jermaine Dupri and Pinky Cole, in addition to Harris’ brother-in-law Tony West and others.

Hollywood hip-hop The “Black Men Read ‘Project 2025′” series goals to coach Black men concerning the dangers of Project 2025 to themselves, their families and their communities.

“They have to keep doing what they are doing,” Tillery said. “And you still need projects like ours — independent messengers — who, frankly, will just make things real.”

Charlamagne challenges Lara on The Breakfast Club

The co-chair of the Republican National Party drew laughter from Charlamagne Tha God on Tuesday when she insisted that her father-in-law, Donald Trump, is not a bigot.

“I have never heard this man say anything racist,” Lara Trump said in response to a query Tuesday from “Breakfast Club” co-host DJ Envy. She challenged Charlemagne to offer examples, and he did.

“People act as if there is no such thing as Google,” he said.

The short montage of “The Breakfast Club” featured the previous president’s 2015 remarks about Mexican immigrants, whom he denounced as “rapists,” and his branding of Haiti, El Salvador and several other African countries as “sucking countries.”

DJ Envy went back to the early Seventies when Donald Trump and his father faced… discrimination lawsuit brought by the Department of Justice over the alleged refusal to rent apartments to black tenants. Testimony shows that in predominantly white housing, applications submitted by black applicants were marked with the letter “C” for “colored.”

He also addressed Trump’s refusal to apologize for recommending the death penalty for “The Central Park Five” in a full-page newspaper ad after they were falsely implicated in a brutal rape.

Lara Trump, Eric Trump’s wife, followed her father-in-law’s advice by denying the accusations after which launching into a series of broad platitudes. She did not reply to Trump’s continued claims that five young men convicted of brutally raping a Central Park jogger in 1989 had pleaded guilty and the victim had died. They didn’t and she wasn’t killed.

Five former defendants announced On Monday, they’re suing the previous president for defamation.

Her claim that the federal housing discrimination lawsuit was settled without an request for forgiveness is technically true, nevertheless it ignores the actual fact that: as agreedDonald Trump has “failed and neglected” to uphold the Fair Housing Act.

“You can undress anyone you want,” Lara Trump said. “Traditionally, people talk about attacking Republicans and calling them racists. But if you look at what he wants for this country, he wants every person to succeed. “I want black Americans to succeed, Latino Americans to succeed, and women to succeed.”

Charlamagne continued to ask questions on the GOP candidate’s alleged racism, noting his recent claims, unsupported by any evidence, and that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating human pets.

“How do you ask Mexicans and Muslims to ignore a lot of this rhetoric, Haitians to ignore a lot of the rhetoric that he has said about them that is dangerous, that has denigrated and demonized them?” he asked.

“The comments are being misinterpreted,” she replied

Charlamagne doubled down on the purpose: “By making these sweeping generalizations, you’re really hurting the Haitian Americans who are here and the Mexican Americans who are here. Everyone is being labeled, vilified and demonized.”

The RNC co-chairman remained on the defensive, refusing to budge an inch. However, from comments posted on X, it appears that she didn’t break through with “Breakfast Club” listeners, not less than on the subject of race.

She had a few defenders: “She’s right, the idea that Donald Trump is a racist is a false narrative invented by the left-wing media,” one in every of them said – but most read like this:

“Laura Trump is learning from her father-in-law,” one other listener said. “When he comments on housing discrimination within the Seventies, he is telling half-truths or outright lies. Trump’s actions surrounding the Central Park Five are racism on steroids. How dare she try to reduce it.

“Let’s say Trump is not a racist, racists support him, and he plays up this ideology in the name of his goals,” wrote one in every of them. “And that is one of the many reasons why I would never support him.”

On the opposite hand, Charlamagne also attracted anger from listeners who felt that the radio hosts were unprepared for the interview. “You were terribly ill-prepared for this conversation. #embarrassing,” wrote one commentator.

One user asked, “Why did you let these liars on your platform?” One commenter responded to the query: “Let them come, but prepare some clips and facts that will debunk these lies about gaslighting.”

There are plenty more comments and actions which, if not racist, are at best racially insensitive. He began his political profession after repeated assurances that President Barack Obama was not born within the USA and subsequently did not meet the qualifications of president. Not true, but racists and Obama haters loved him for it.

But despite all this, Trump is there polling higher amongst African Americans than during his previous two runs for office.

“He will work equally for every American,” Lara Trump told Charlamagne. “He did it in his first term as president, and he will do it again.”

Apart from the polls, one candidate has an advantage between Harris and Trump

Polls in the final days before the presidential election show that Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, are too near call the race.

However, there are some noteworthy and unconventional observations that are usually not traditional markers of a White House victory but are price considering. Of the two presidential candidates, one candidate stands out.

Based on viewing figures, Harris has racked up an enormous variety of interviews, including an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News, urban radio host Charlamagne Tha God of “The Breakfast Club” and ABC’s daytime talk show “The View.” “

The ladies of “The View” recently got theirs highest numbers over three years in reference to the Vice President Harris interview. The October 8 show attracted 3.1 million viewers.

The vp’s interview on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” October 16 he drew 7.8 million viewers on the conservative cable network. The Harris interview greater than tripled the show’s usual audience, which averaged 2.5 million in the third quarter. Those numbers also exceeded the variety of viewers of Fox News’ Harris Faulkner’s interview with Trump that very same day at the town hall.

Vice President Harris’ interview with Charlamagne Tha God on iHeart Radio attracted large audiences and listeners, as most major cable networks broadcast the interview live. People near the interview call it “her biggest interview yet” receiving 30.6 billion social media views and counting.

While Donald Trump’s interviews and appearances were noteworthy, they didn’t generate the same enthusiasm and numbers that Harris did.

The former president appears to have attracted smaller crowds at campaign rallies. For example, Detroit recently saw a marked reduction in voter numbers to its usual audience size this election cycle. Attendees have also been seen leaving Trump’s rallies as he continues to make remarks. At one rally in Oaks, Pennsylvania, last week, the GOP candidate made headlines after he stopped answering questions from attendees and as a substitute stood on stage swaying to the music for greater than half-hour.

At one other campaign stop in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Trump talked about Arnold Palmer’s male genitalia. At one other campaign stop, he called Kamala Harris a “shitty vice president.”

The 78-year-old former president even took a pseudo-shift at a McDonald’s restaurant in Pennsylvania on Sunday. Trump tried to undercut Harris by stating that she had never worked at a McDonald’s restaurant, as she had previously claimed. Harris said that while attending Howard University in Washington, D.C., she worked at McDonald’s

Trump didn’t pull numbers or overwhelm the news cycle like Harris’ interviews and appearances, including her recent visits to New Birth Baptist Church and Divine Faith Ministries International in Georgia last Sunday. At Divine Faith Ministries, Harris even received a birthday serenade from music icon Stevie Wonder.

He seemed oblivious to the negative reactions as he posted a video of the gang stating, “Thank you Steelers fans for the great reception tonight. November 5 will be the most important day in the history of our country! MAGA2024!!!”

Among the people shouting “USA”, the video he shared shows a fan wearing a brown hat right in front of the window of the box at Acrisure Stadium, where Trump’s match is being held, pointing two middle fingers at the Republican presidential candidate.

Although he took credit for the fans at the match by shouting “USA”, an X account known as MeidasTouch stated that the mantra was probably not even directed at him.

As the media site explained, while the gang erupted in a chorus of “USA,” the Steelers were honoring a Navy SEAL through the game.

That said, it’s possible that the majority fans at the sport didn’t notice his presence or didn’t even notice him because they were focused on the sport.

“We hear the Steelers have never once shown Trump on the Jumbotron,” MeidasTouch stated post a couple of fundamental misunderstanding.

Jokingly suggesting that your entire stadium wasn’t celebrating Trump, someone replied: post by Beats in Brief, which said that when Trump arrived at the stadium, “the entire stadium erupted in chants of ‘USA!'” with laughing emojis quoting the words “entire stadium.”

Even an individualist he said: “It’s funny because he hates the US.”

Another person as well as“Why does Trump go to games and pretend that the fans support him??? “delusional”

One of the videos shared online also shows a bunch of fans shouting at Trump to depart the stadium.

With a screenshot of a clip of someone giving Trump the center finger, user he replied: “MAGA posting this photo over and over again is a *chef’s kiss.”
