The NFL’s New Quarterback: How Chanelle Reynolds Became a Champion of Washington Commanders for Change – Essence
In the high-stakes world of the NFL, where split-second decisions could make or break a game, Chanelle S. Reynolds the beeper rings (see what I did there?).
It’s not the type of sound that may be heard across the sector at Northwest Stadium (formerly FedExField), the team’s home Washington’s commanders. Instead, it’s art that reshapes the DNA of one of America’s most beloved – and historically homogeneous – institutions. As the primary-ever director of diversity, equity and inclusion programs for commanders, Reynolds isn’t only breaking the glass ceiling; demolishes outdated textbooks and develops a recent motion plan for integration in skilled sports.
More than a decade ago, Chanelle Reynolds walked across the stage at Delaware State University with a diploma in her hand and a world of possibilities before her. Her journey within the sports industry began in 2016 when she joined the NBA G League as an Account Executive for the Delaware 87ers (now the Delaware Blue Coats). In July 2019, Reynolds moved to the NFL, joining the Washington Commanders (then often called the Washington Football Team) as director of group sales. Little did she know that in only two years she can be in a position that might allow her to influence the very culture of the organization.
Reynolds’ transition from sales to diversity champion occurred in July 2021, when she took on the groundbreaking role of diversity, equity and inclusion program leader. This evolution wasn’t just a profession turn – it’s a testament to the seismic changes happening on the planet of sports and a beacon for every young one who has ever dreamed of making a difference in an industry that usually resists change.
“If you had asked me years ago if such a turnaround was even possible, I would have said no,” Reynolds confesses. “I thought to myself, I’m an income girl. Cash rules everything around me.” But as fate would have it, Reynolds was destined to make a different kind of impact, one that might resonate far beyond the ultimate results.
In her role, Reynolds implemented several initiatives to create a more inclusive environment throughout the command organization. One of her essential goals was to expand the worker resource group program, which now includes 4 different groups serving different demographics throughout the organization.
“We have a women’s initiative network, the Black Engagement Network, Somos Commanders, which targets employees who identify as Latina and Latina, and our Commanders Pride network, which is our LGBTQ plus-focused network,” explains Reynolds. “That’s one of our main goals that we’re focusing on to make the environment more inclusive.”
But Reynolds’ influence extends beyond internal organizational structures. She can also be the initiator of initiatives connecting Commanders with the local people. “One of the initiatives I’m really proud of is some of our small business initiatives for local businesses and minority-owned or diverse-owned businesses,” she says. “We run programs where we invited local Latino-owned businesses to come and be vendors at our stadium. They had access to thousands of our fans and could showcase their products there.”
As a Black woman working in a male-dominated industry, Reynolds is keenly aware of the challenges faced by marginalized groups in skilled sports. Highlights the importance of mentorship and sponsorship, especially for black women.
“I found that Black women and women receive a lot of mentoring, but it is under-sponsored,” notes Reynolds. “Behind closed doors, in these rooms, there aren’t enough people supporting them, giving them exposure and exposing them to some of these stretch projects that are needed to get them to the next level.”
Reynolds’ commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices extends beyond her work with commanders. He hosts the podcast “The Success Playbook”, where he shares success stories through the lens of sports and DE&I. “I share the message of the underrepresented, whether it’s Black professionals or Black women in sports,” she explains. “I let them share their success stories.”
Despite the progress made, Reynolds admits there continues to be a lot of work to be done with regards to diversity and inclusion in sport. However, she stays optimistic concerning the future, citing the important thing role sports have played within the pursuit of social justice throughout history.
“Sports has always played a key role in driving difficult conversations that lead to social change,” he reflects. “We saw it in the 1968 Olympics with Tony Smith and John Carlos. We saw this even in the recent moment when the public murder of George Floyd was public and athletes protested around it.”
Looking to the longer term, Reynolds hopes to proceed to make an impact each throughout the Commanders organization and the broader sports industry. Her ultimate goal? “I want people to know that my work has given them the confidence to look authentic every day when they walk through the door,” she says.
For aspiring professionals, especially women of color, seeking to break into the sports industry, Reynolds offers this recommendation: “Find your community. Find that community that is ready to pour into you. I offer guidance and perspective on some blind spots.”
As the NFL and the sports world proceed to grapple with issues of diversity and inclusion, leaders like Chanelle S. Reynolds are proving that change isn’t only possible, but obligatory. Through her work with Washington’s leadership and beyond, she doesn’t just open doors – she builds a more inclusive future for everyone in the sport.

Serena Williams’ bizarre anniversary tribute sparks fears she remains married for months after rumors of marital troubles
Speculation concerning the status of Serena Williams’ marriage to husband Alexis Ohanian has been increasing for a while now. The whispers escalated recently after they sent one another lackluster anniversary messages via social media.
On Saturday, November 16, the couple reflected on their seven years together by sharing Instagram posts dedicated to one another.
“7 years have passed so quickly… Happy anniversary @alexisohanian Thank you for being the very best daddy to our girls @olympiaohanian AND @adiraohanian Thank you for turning a median November day into a fancy dress party and making it special,” wrote the 23-time Grand Slam winner postwhich included several photos of Ohanian in dad mode during Halloween and candid family moments.
Her counterpart common a touching family portrait of Williams and their daughters, Olympia (7) and Adira (1).
“We got married here seven years ago. Now we will take these two out for donuts. Happy anniversary 🎉 Thank you for giving me two of the best people we now have ever met. You are a tremendous mom. I’m so completely happy to fulfill you,” he said before tagging Williams and their daughters.
The decision to center anniversary messages around the kids resulted in fans being congratulatory and signaling a scarcity of public affection, sparking more rumors about potential marital problems.
One person commented: “I hope everything is still going well for you! Regardless, it is commendable for the children to come together.”
Having faced some backlash over their assumptions, the unique commenter forwarded some of the accounts to some skeptics.
“Also, Serena posted a tweet on October 21 in which she wrote: “I don’t know who should listen to this (maybe no one), but if someone, even someone close to you, robs you of your joy, you can walk away.”
Another person also noticed Williams’ dry message. – That’s right, there’s nothing about love. only compliments about parenting.
Another fan later asked, “Nothing about you guys being happy being married?”
The comments on Ohanian’s post also speculated that there may be some trouble in paradise.
“No words of love for Rena? Shame, I ponder what could have happened,” said one follower.
Another replied how telling this “weird” news was. “It was very strange news. Not using the word love for your wife in your anniversary post is weird. However, these words seem very similar to what he wanted to express. “I’m glad I met you.”
One of them stated that irrespective of how strange or off-putting the messages were, Williams would not see them because she didn’t all the time follow her husband on Instagram.
The gray anniversary news is not the primary time a nerd-athlete love story has began swirling within the rumor mill.
In May 2024, Williams attended the Met Gala sans Ohanian. His absence was unusual for the couple because it was the primary ceremony he had not attended since they became husband and wife.
To add fuel to the fireplace, the Reddit co-founder was missing in motion during Williams’ well-documented and publicized appearances during Milan Fashion Week. There was also no annual Father’s Day fast for Ohanian, as was the case in previous years.
Things escalated when people noticed Williams had been photographed several times without her wedding ring.
Social media followers were quick to defend her within the conversation surrounding the missing ring.
“I mean she’s trying to lose weight so maybe the ring got too small,” one person wrote. Another said: “She just wore this to Essencefest.”
But in October, Williams fueled the rumors herself after posting a cryptic message on X just weeks before her anniversary.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this (maybe no one), but if someone, even someone close to you, robs you of joy, you can walk away,” she wrote.
The message began a war of responses about what ought to be tolerated in marriage.
“If that person close to you is your spouse, try to work it out instead of leaving because there is no such thing as a perfect marriage,” says one of them. he replied.
Another X user he replied“If your spouse robs you of joy, do you may have anything to work on? This is not an imperfect marriage, it’s hell.

Kim Kardashian’s thigh gap causes confusion as fans claim her ‘surgically created figure’ will cause future health problems
Kim Kardashian’s body has been a hot topic amongst fans currently. In October, the 44-year-old’s figure got here under fire when she wore tiny shorts to the 2024 Academy Museum gala. At the time, fans wondered if it was time for the star to think about selecting a more mature and fewer sexy style to enrich her aging figure.
Now Kim’s recent photo can also be facing criticism as a consequence of her very visible thigh gap. In September, the mother of 4 uploaded a carousel of photos offering a fun and on a regular basis look into her life. However, some fans had a tough time getting past the primary photo, which showed off Kardashian’s curvy figure.
In the photo, Kim wore no makeup and tied her hair in a messy ponytail while standing in what seemed to be her closet. She wore an olive bodysuit with no panties, revealing her hips, legs and thighs. Due to her awkward posture, a visual thigh gap caught critics’ attention.
The Daily Mail republished the photo with one person in it commented“I’m not being rude, I’m just stating what I see, and what I see is a completely surgically created figure. There is ZERO natural about it at all. An unhealthy role model for girls and women everywhere.”
Another person described Kim stated that he had “the thigh waist of a greyhound like a racehorse.”
Third commentator he said that Kardashian’s alleged enhancements could impact her health as she ages.
“She will have serious health problems as she ages,” they wrote. “Her hips are badly damaged and it affects the gate. She is totally disproportionate, her body looks unhealthy.
Another person suggested that Kardashian could have been feeling insecure about her ex-husband Kanye West’s recent wife, Bianca Censori.
“It has this weird shape that I hope is Photoshopped and never cosmetic surgery. He’s attempting to compete with Kayne’s recent wife, who’s about 20 years younger, or simply desperate for attention. It’s really sad,” they are saying he wrote.
Censori and West have often been under public scrutiny for the garments – or lack thereof – they wear during their outings. It’s unclear whether Censori, 29, has had any of the surgery Kardashian is suspected of getting, but she does have a certain physique.
Although her butt and hips aren’t as curvy as the SKIMS founders, she does appear to have a distinguished bust.
Despite long-standing assumptions that Kardashian and no less than two of her 4 sisters – Khloe and Kylie – had undergone some kind of butt augmentation, none of them have admitted to doing so.
The only thing she admitted to was Botox.
In a 2022 interview LureKim denied ever using filler on her lips or cheeks, but admitted that she “used a little bit of Botox.”
Some may ask why she does anything to her face or figure in any respect, and it’s because her appearance is helpful to her.
“I care. I actually care about looking good. I probably care about over 90 percent of the people on this planet. It’s challenging if you’re a mom and also you’re exhausted at the top of the day, otherwise you’re in school and I even have all of it prematurely. I normally perform beauty treatments late within the evening. When everyone goes to bed, I get laser treatments.”

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s ‘rigged’ fight sparks refund demands, but the real winner is Ring Girl’s ‘Baddie’
Netflix took the biggest sporting event of 2024 with the highly anticipated Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight and brought it straight to its streaming platform as a live event.
The fight took place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on Friday, November 15. At one point, people thought the fight wasn’t selling, but state promoters reported it drew an enormous crowd of 72,300 fans.
On one hand, there’s Paul, a 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer, fighting 58-year-old Tyson, a legendary heavyweight known for his brutal knockout power and impressive profession. judges, According to for ESPN, he scored the fight 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favor of Paul, which caused a whole lot of controversy and conversation.
The event got off to a rocky start, with many Netflix subscribers complaining about poor video quality and extreme buffering that spoiled their viewing experience.
“Netflix is taking issue with poor video quality and buffering issues,” wrote one subscriber. “Then there is an exhibition called the problem of struggle…. I signed up for a fight and today I’m withdrawing…..I would like my money back on @netflix.”
Netflix takes it on the chin for poor video quality and buffering issues… then there is the exhibition which has been called a fighting problem…. I signed up for the fight, today I’m resigning… I would really like to get my a reimbursement @netflix https://t.co/yKucvTSGWz

After the buffering issues were resolved, the principal event presented its own set of problems. Many fans considered the fight to be staged, questioning its legitimacy and whether it was part of a bigger spectacle intended to extend the hype around these two extraordinary personalities.
Naive fans who expected a far more competitive principal event seemed disenchanted as Paul danced to wear down the elder Tyson in the early rounds while the Brownsville bully didn’t land as many punches.
One viewer complex“You do realize that the Tyson vs. Paul fight was rigged from the start, right? watching it and subscribing to Netflix is exactly what they want. it is a way to waste time, energy and money while fueling capitalism and promoting mindless entertainment.”
Other he said“Yes… should you had watched the Netflix documentary a number of months before this fight, you’d have seen Tyson training and looking like a beast. Just a few months later he cannot throw a punch and keeps biting his gloves? Strange to say the least.
There is even a campaign to unsubscribe from Netflix.
One person he tweeted“Netflix tricked everyone into subscribing to observe this fake fight and now everyone has canceled their subscription. This st slowed it back down #cancelnetflix.
“Everything is set up so that Tyson can win in the rematch” – one other X user he wrote. “It’s just a way to make money because so many people have canceled and boycotted Netflix.”
It seems the saving grace of the event wasn’t the fight itself, but the 4 girls in the ring – especially busty black beauty Lexi Williams.
“Fans say she stole the show during the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight,” one person wrote on Twitter on November 16, together with a compilation of photos and videos of Williams.

Another person excellent“The only thing Netflix did right last night” like anyone else he stated obvious: “That ring girl is literally a black Barbie.”
Fourth comment cursed those that didn’t admire the melanated queen, “Why is everyone so obsessed with the white girl with the ring when the show has the wrong one.”
Lexi Williams is 31 years old. Her Instagram page is already popular on the web, boasting 1.4 million followers. Working as a fitness and swimwear model and Fashion Nova influencer, Williams hails from Los Angeles by the use of Franklin, Tennessee.
“What a time to be alive. Thank you for all your support! I love you all” – Williams he wrote in response to the overwhelming interest it has received from Netflix viewers.
Tyson, who reportedly earned $20 million from the fight, published a press release about his defeat on his X profile. He not only explained his opinion on the failure, but gave insight into the past yr and his health.
“It’s one in every of those situations where you lost but you continue to won. “I’m grateful for last night,” he wrote on Twitter. “I do not regret moving into the ring for the last time. I almost died in June. He had 8 blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 kilos in the hospital and needed to fight to recuperate to fight, so I won.

Down…
— Mike Tyson (@MikeTyson) November 16, 2024
Adding: “My children seeing me stand shoulder to shoulder and finish 8 innings with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy Stadium is an experience no man could ever ask for. Thank you. #PaulTyson.”
Still, some people did jokes behind demands for a refund: “Elder abuse, Tyson walking like a zombie in the preview and limping from the first bell. I imagine #Netflix will make MikeTyson fight. #CancelNetflix and ask for a refund. #BLM on the move.”
Either way, it was a moment that got people talking, even in the event that they weren’t talking about the punches thrown in the ring.
Fans could also be furious, but one thing is certain: Tyson vs. Paul on Netflix has cemented its place in popular culture history, even when it was for reasons that transcend the sport of boxing itself.
