NAACP Image Awards: Victoria Monét wins first awards for ‘The Color Purple’

The fifty fifth annual NAACP Image Awards are underway, with bands like Victoria Monét and projects like “The Color Purple” taking home awards throughout the virtual ceremony.
While the official ceremony will happen on Saturday, NAACP Image Awards winners can be announced throughout the week as a part of a three-day program hosted by Khleo Thomas. On Monday, March 11, the winners within the phonographic and literary categories were announced. in accordance with Varietyand a few of the genre’s biggest stars took home top prizes.
Monét, who had a breakout 12 months together with her debut album “Jaguar II,” won her first two Image Awards of her profession. The “On My Mama” singer won best latest artist and best album awards. “The Color Purple” also won Best Soundtrack/Album Compilation.
