It’s been three years since New York rap groups Dipset and The Lox went head-to-head in a “Verzuz” battle, with The Lox emerging victorious.

In the premiere episode of Cam’ron’s latest web show “Talk With Flee,” which aired on November 8, the Dipset member discussed the moment he realized his group lost to The Lox during their August 2021 match at Madison Square Garden.

He said, “The Lox really had good music and they didn’t come to play any games.”

“This was the first ‘Verzuz’ that went this way,” he said, explaining that in most “Verzuz” battles, the performers often take turns going back and forth. “They just took the opportunity and began singing the songs one after the other. Niggas back start talking crazy. Nigga Juelz said you ain’t got nothing on these bitches.

Then the DJ played Mariah Carey’s song “Honey” featuring Ma$ei The Lox. Cam’ron said he thought, “This isn’t going well.”

“And then when Jadakiss dumped that rattling Biggie, I said no, this is not going well. It’s not right,” he said, referring to the song “The Last Day” by Notorious BIG featuring The Lox.

After determining that Dipset had lost, Cam’ron said that it modified his other plans for the show’s finale.

“And remember, we were losing badly from the start all evening. So I had a freestyle ready that I was going to do at the end of the night. But we were so sad that after I was about to do it, the crowd didn’t even want to hear it and began booing. And I said that was just fucked up. That night the whole lot disappeared.

But that is not all. The rapper said he also lost out on a tour he had originally planned with The Lox before recording “Verzuz.” In fact, Cam’ron initially wanted to deal with touring and kept shutting down Verzuz because they were going to make less money. They were only supposed to earn $100,000 for the entire group on “Verzuz,” but they were scheduled to receive $1.5 million during the tour.

However, a member of his group, Jim Jones, aka Capo, said he would give Cam’ron all the money they made on “Verzuz” because he just wanted to perform at Madison Square Garden again. When he saw Capo’s great desire to perform, he relented, but not without negotiation.

First, he negotiated a rise of their salaries from $100,000 to $500,000. He then received Triller shares, 25 percent on entry and one other 25 percent upon closing the deal. He also asked for six strokes from Swizz Beatz and six strokes from Timbaland, and in the event that they sell out, he’ll get some money on the back end.

So after the battle was over, the plan was to proceed the route.

However, the people running the tour called Cam’ron and explained some events that occurred during Verzuz, which caused them to cancel the tour. He said they noticed a small “brotherly spat” between him and The Lox member Styles P after Styles sat on his beach chair. Although he tried to explain the situation, their response was, “It didn’t look safe.”

According to him, in addition they said, “And then if you were on the scene, gang-related activity was mentioned, so Chicago was out, Miluwakee was out and St. Louis is out.”

Of course, this was a blow to Cam’ron because not only did he not want to do Verzuz in any respect, but everyone lost out as each of them got paid six figures for the tour.

But as for the loss to The Lox itself, Cam’ron didn’t take it too hard.

He said: “First of all, let me say this: I do not like to lose, ever. I never liked losing. But if I had to lose to anyone and still live with it and not be mad about it, it could be The Lox. They are my brothers. These are my niggas.

“And that was a well-deserved man,” he added, “because I think The Lox don’t get a lot of the recognition that they deserve, so if I had to lose to anyone and say, ‘Oh well,’ it’d be them n***as.”

Fans reacted to Cam’ron’s teaser clip on the Welcome to Culture Instagram page.

One person said: “Cam wore a dipset! They were out of breath and weren’t really prepared! ! ! Period.”

A second person wrote: “If Dipset practiced for even an hour, they would probably look better on stage. I see the Lox took the time to put on a good show!”

A 3rd person said: “That’s not why you lost! Dipset never beat Jadakiss!”
