Drake will begin his Australian tour on the same day that rival Kendrick Lamar performs at the Super Bowl
TORONTO (AP) — Drake announced that his first tour of Australia in eight years will begin on the same day as Kendrick Lamar’s rival Super Bowl halftime show.
The Toronto rapper announced the tour during a Sunday livestream with Quebec streamer Félix Lengyel.
Drake said the tour will kick off on February 9, the same day Lamar is caused perform on stage at Caesars Superdome in New Orleansa connection that Drake didn’t portray in the video.
He said the tour would come with stops in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast and would proceed “until sometime in March”.
“For now, I’m going to go to Australia. It’s been eight years,” he said. “I like it there.”
Drake representatives didn’t immediately reply to a request for more details about the tour or when tickets go on sale.
The route follows: a public diss battle between Drake and Lamar, during which they attacked one another in songs including Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” and Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”
Lamar’s song is nominated for five Grammy Awards, including record of the 12 months and song of the 12 months.
Drake was not nominated for any Grammy awards this 12 months, but his representatives didn’t immediately reply to questions on whether he had submitted any work for consideration. In previous years he selected to not accomplish that.
