Uber is building a fleet of employees who will label data for artificial intelligence models
Uber is expanding its worker fleet and creating a latest category: AI annotations and data labeling.
The passenger transportation company has began hiring contractors for a latest artificial intelligence and data labeling division called Scaled Solutions. These employees perform projects for Uber’s internal business units but additionally they serve third-party clients, including autonomous vehicle company Aurora Innovation and video game maker Niantic, in accordance with Bloomberg reports.
According to Bloomberg, Uber has began recruiting contractors within the USA, Canada and India, amongst others.
Uber’s move to data labeling comes as this market becomes increasingly hot due to the rise of artificial intelligence. For example, Scale AI is one of the businesses within the industry that is seeing increased demand. Earlier this yr, the corporate raised a $1 billion round at a valuation of $13.8 billion, after raising just $600 million in its eight-year history.
