Viola Davis’s drastic weight loss in a new photo has fans singing her praises years after the actress revealed she wasn’t seen as “pretty enough”
A new photo of Viola Davis has appeared on the Internet, showing not only a dazzling smile, but in addition a figure.
The Oscar winner posed with her hand on her hip while wearing a black sequined gown in the new photo floating on the X. The photo shows a completely satisfied Davis looking extremely hydrated and rocking her signature short, curly bob.
The caption for the video, which was reposted by Film Updates on X, read: “Viola Davis stuns in new photo.”
Fans reacted to the photo, stating how Davis’ appearance has seemingly modified.
“Apart from the obvious weight loss in this photo – Viola has always been an attractive woman with amazing skin.”
Several fans who assumed the “Fences” star had lost weight chimed in. “This ozempic is crazy,” and one other said: “Ahhh, who is this? Seriously, who is that?”
A 3rd praised her, writing: “Viola Davis looks absolutely amazing in this photo! 😍 Her talent and beauty shine every time. Keep inspiring us, Viola!”
Davis vowed to smile for photos after someone gave her what she thought was sound beauty advice.
Speaking to Harper Bazaar UK’s ‘Life Lessons’ series on YouTube, she said: ‘The best beauty advice she ever gave me is: ‘Viola, every time someone has a camera and needs to take a picture of you, just have a look at the camera and smile myself. .’ I assumed that was really powerful and I remember someone telling me that and I used to be like, “Wow, I have something inside me that I can use in a photo.” It just changes my whole appearance, after which I smiled each time they put the camera in my face.”
Davis has struggled in the past with the way people talked about her appearance.
In a 2022 New York Times interview, she it opened about her famous role on ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder,” where she played a fierce defense attorney with a turbulent personal life that intertwines with the personal lives of a few of the students in her law classes.
Even though Davis was highly praised for the role, she remembers that her peers initially doubted whether she can be a good fit because of her appearance. Her friend told her that other black actors said she “wasn’t pretty enough to play it.”
In the “Life Lessons” series, she touched on the topic of her not being perceived well and explained that being called unattractive could cause great harm to someone.
“I would say the worst thing anyone has ever said to me is constantly telling me I’m not pretty,” she said, before assuring viewers that the comments didn’t stop her.
“Even though I’m good,” she continued, “I actually am. I’m good. I feel very confident. But once you say it, I do not think people understand how painful it’s and the way irrelevant it’s.
She added: “When you say that to someone, the unspoken word is that you just should not worthy because people place importance on beauty and sweetness. So for those who do not have that, it means, “I have no value…” nobody desires to love me. Nobody will accept me. I actually have no power. When you say this to other women, they do not feel like there’s anything in their lives that has any value. You stripped them of all the things.
