Mary J. Blige didn’t listen to any “hate” she felt because of her wardrobe selections.

The 53-year-old singer and actress is known for the proven fact that age doesn’t affect what she wears. But it seems some people cannot let Blige live every time she shows some skin, as they criticize her for not dressing for her age.

Blige was one of many legendary artists, including Kool and The Gang, A Tribe Called Quest, Cher and others, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on October 20.

She performed singing some of her hottest songs comparable to “Family Affair”, “Love No Limit” and “Be Happy”. During her performance, she wore a jeweled midi dress, a wide-brimmed black hat and statement high heels.

While Blige herself seemed “fine” in her outfit as she danced and sang on stage, her fans didn’t express the identical approval of her appearance.

The footage from her performance was shared on Instagram by The Neighborhood Talk, where one of the commentators he said“Whoever dressed the aunt is not it. But I really like her.

Another said: “Ummm, I do not think I’ve ever seen her in an unflattering outfit before until this moment. Whose idea was this? He can barely move. I’m sorry, but he’s been Monet for thus long. She will need to have forgotten tips on how to use her vocal chords, because what’s flawed, honey?

Bildge is most recently known for her role as Monet Tejada within the film “Power Book II: Ghost.” Many comments initially criticized the TV star for her singing, but some said the outfit is also the rationale Blige sounded bad.

One person said: “I blame the (outfit) she’s wearing, all that shiny material is probably hot. However, I still love Maria.

Another wrote: “Everyone says she will be able to’t sing. lmaooo, he probably cannot breathe in those clothes with all those lights. Aunt Mary’s getting old, you higher show her respect “HEYYYYYYYYYY-EYYYYYYY.”

A 3rd said: “Mary either can’t breathe or is out of breath. Sorry for hating, no hate.”

“Common’s face said it all,” added one other follower, who noticed the Chicago rapper within the audience. A fifth person said: “Mary can sing. She seems very out of breath. Maybe she was drained or sick or whatever. Let’s not hate the queen.”

Just over a month ago, the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” was shunned for an additional outfit she wore during a photo shoot while standing in front of a glass window overlooking New York City.

To promote her latest chart-topping single “Breathing” featuring rapper Fabolous, Blige opted for a skintight black leather one-piece. The outfit stopped a few inches below hip level, allowing all attention to be focused on her legs.

While some thought she looked great for her age, others thought she was too mature to decorate in a risqué way and even suggested she is likely to be going through a “midlife crisis”.

Blige shared how she needed to cope with uncertainty and rebuild her self-confidence. In 2022, Elle interview she explained her journey of latest discovery and the proven fact that it has little to do with her actual appearance.

She said: “It’s not nearly hairstyles, clothes and skin. This is how I rediscover myself through trials and perseverance. Am I going to quit? No, I’m going to take it to the subsequent level. Moving to the subsequent level is painful because change is difficult. But people see me leaving and think, “It’s just her skin or hair.” No, it’s her. It’s me. I really decide to be a higher, stronger person.

So when people see her styling her hair a certain way or wearing certain clothes, just know that she’s wearing it, not what she’s wearing.

“I won’t say that my hair gave me strength,” she continued. “I’d say that I give my hair strength. Whatever I’m wearing, I’m now capable of have the strength to hold it, which I wasn’t capable of have within the last layer of my life. Hair is beautiful, but I am unable to wear it confidently if I’m not confident. Because then it will just be a weave, or simply blonde hair, or my (natural) hair.
