Recalling their friendship, Davidson said he approached her initially and said, “What’s up, girl? Damn, man, you blew up! What’s going on?” Lopez replied curtly, “Hey.” When Davidson pressed her further, asking how she was feeling, she simply replied, “You know, I’m just living.”

Her dry answer embarrassed him and made him feel cheated.

Davidson explained that each he and Lopez had the identical manager, Benny Medina, who encouraged him to go to Lopez on the set of her “Jenny from the Block” music video, believing she can be excited to see him. Unfortunately, Davidson said Lopez treated him the identical way during this second interaction.

“You never know what could set off this kind of thing,” Wayans added, suggesting that perhaps the joke could have soured Lopez’s relationships with Foxx and Davidson. But as for him, Wayans said, “JLo blew up, and when I saw her, it was always love. It was always, ‘Hey, how are you? How’s Keenen?’”

According to Wayans, Lopez even beneficial him to her husband, Ben Affleck, for a job within the 2023 film Air.

“JLo was the one who was like, ‘You should hit on Marlon,’” Wayans said, adding that after they later met on the press tour and sat together on the Golden Globes, “it was pure love.”
