Being a parent is certainly one of the toughest jobs on the earth. So why do some women resolve to do it alone? An increasingly popular trend amongst some women is to select motherhood alone, taking up all of the responsibilities, each mental, emotional and financial.

In the fourth episode of “Choosing Motherhood with Eboni K. Williams,” Williams discusses how to pay for the procedure without the assistance of worker advantages. According to the New York TimesIn 2015, only 5% of huge employers covered egg freezing. Last 12 months, nearly one in five did. Companies like Forbes, Starbucks, and Amazon offer packages that include egg-freezing advantages starting from $10,000 to $50,000 to recruit top candidates. The Times also reported a 300% increase in infertility procedures, from about 7,600 recorded procedures in 2015 to 29,803 in 2022.

According to Fertility IQ, the common cost of an egg-freezing cycle is $11,000, which incorporates hormonal stimulation, egg retrieval and lab processing. There are additional costs, about $5,000 for medications, plus fees for storing eggs. The cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is even higher, at about $24,000.
