A woman went missing after traveling from Texas to Georgia to “meet her boyfriend.” Many believe she was the victim of a scam after police posted a content creator with several fake accounts as a person of interest.
Many people on the Internet are wondering about the circumstances of the disappearance of a young woman in Georgia who, according to police, had traveled to the state from Texas to meet her boyfriend and disappeared during the visit.
Henry County police said 19-year-old Dajza Shields traveled to Stockbridge, Georgia, to meet a man named Barrett Wagner, a 34-year-old white man who reportedly lives in Tennessee.
Authorities said she visited the area with plans to move to Tennessee with Wagner. On Aug. 21, she went to the Forest Road area to meet Wagner, but he reportedly didn’t pick her up. She has not been seen or heard from since.
In the initial report by Henry County Police fasting On Facebook, in connection with Shields’ disappearance, the department posted a photo of Shields and a photo of the man Wagner was likely referring to.
However, many individuals who saw the post recognized the man in the photo as David Kash, a content creator from Canada, leading many to suspect that Shields’ case was the result of a fake impersonation scam.
Although Kash maintains official social media accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch, multiple fake social media pages have been created using his name and likeness. Several fake Facebook accounts also use different locations to claim that Kash lives in numerous states of the United States.
Kash has not posted a video to his official TikTok account since 2021, and his Instagram account has been set to private.
The Henry County police Facebook post drew a whole bunch of comments calling attention to the mistake in identification. Police later removed Kash’s photo, leaving only Shields’ photo on the post.
“Definitely catfished. There are like 30 pages with this guy’s picture,” wrote one commenter.
“Whoever was talking to her was scamming her. This guy that was shown is recording videos etc. So they definitely used his pictures. I sincerely pray they find her safe,” wrote one other.
Police say Shields is a black female with black hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 1 inch tall and 180 kilos. They also report she has an altered mental status.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Detective E. Luciano at 770-288-8278, Henry County Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher at 770-957-9121, or send suggestions, videos or photos to 770-220-7009.
