NFL Hall of Famer and current University of Colorado at Boulder football coach Deion Sanders has partnered with Elevations Credit Union to provide eight of his football players with children with a checking account and $2,121 in starting funds.

Elevations Credit Union posted a video of a football coach talking to young fathers and explaining the aim of opening bank accounts.

Sanders gathered the fathers on the front of the room and said, “I want you to know, it’s not that you’re in trouble. You didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, you did something right. A child is not a mistake. A child is an opportunity to develop you, to grow you, to advance you, to give you certain skills. You know how I feel about fatherhood. You know I wouldn’t hire a coach unless he was a great father. I don’t hire a coach who’s a failure, I don’t hire a coach who doesn’t take care of his responsibilities. I would never hire a guy who says he’ll take care of you but won’t take care of his own. That doesn’t make sense to me.”

“Elevations is honored to support these CU students and their young families. By creating these accounts and matching the $2,121 contribution, these children of CU athletes have a solid start to their financial future. We are proud to be an official credit union of CU Boulder.

According to Sanders, a post appeared on his social media account call to a neighborhood banking institution on August 22 to establish this kind of partnership.

The money was transferred in the shape of a NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) package, as Elevations Credit Union has partnered with 5430 AllianceNIL school collective. In case you are wondering why the number is $2,121, that was Sanders’ uniform number when he played the sport.
