Black Men Win Tailgate Promotes Unity Across South Florida
WLRN reports that the group Black Men Win Together has launched a brand new initiative to bring together men from across South Florida for a day dedicated to male empowerment and voter education.
In partnership with the South Florida Black Prosperity Alliance, the primary Black Men Win Tailgate event took place in Miami on August twenty fifth. free solution to connect with men in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Co-founder Ed Ponder described the event as greater than just a gathering — he said it was a call to motion, encouraging attendees to actively engage within the political landscape and push for meaningful change of their communities after the 2024 election season. “We are excited to launch Black Men Win Tailgate,” Ponder said.
“We create a space where black men can share knowledge, build community, and create meaningful change.”
Participants enjoyed food trucks, vendors and academic sessions while visiting voter registration and verification sites. As Black voters’ voting rights are under threat across the country, attendees engaged in discussions about issues affecting the Black community, with access to fact-checks from Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
“This is the beginning of a legacy. This is history being made. It means a lot to a group of black men to have a vision and to others who come in to promote it and highlight it,” Eric Knowles, co-founder of the South Florida Black Prosperity Alliance, said of the importance of the event.
“We don’t always have safe spaces where black men can collaborate and support each other. We’re all in this together.”
Black men have grow to be a key demographic in discussions concerning the 2024 presidential election. As Harris has refocused attention on black men, each parties have highlighted the concerns of a gaggle that usually feels its experiences and voting preferences are sidelined in the general public debate ahead of the election.
According to Jefferson Noel, founding father of Barbershop Speaks, who celebrated the group’s event, saying that it turned him on“Being a part of black men coming together and empowering each other fuels me,” Noel said.
Black Men Win has been fueled since Harris announced her campaign. Just days after she launched into her trip to the White House, the group greater than $1.3 million was raised from over 17,000 donors.
Other groups focused on black men are also spreading details about voting and elections. Alpha PAC, one of the crucial productive black men’s PACs within the country, has endorsed Harris’ candidacy. In a press release, chairman Everett B. Ward called Harris “a clear choice for the future of the nation.” In Atlanta, the Black Man Lab hosts a weekly “safe, sacred, and healing space” where 100 men meet each week.
