Perdue Foods Recalls More Than 167,000 Pounds of Chicken Due to Metal Contamination
Perdue Foods LLC, a Perry, Georgia-based facility, has taken proactive motion by recalling roughly 167,171 kilos of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nuggets and tender products which may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The affected products were manufactured on March 23, 2024 and include:
- 22-ounce vacuum-sealed plastic packages “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with an expiration date of “03 23 25”.
- 29-ounce vacuum-sealed plastic packages “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS” with an expiration date of “03 23 25”.
- 22oz Vacuum Packs “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with an expiration date of “03 23 25”.
These products have the plant number “P-33944” on the back of the packaging and have been distributed to shops nationwide and sold directly to consumers via the Internet.
The issue got here to light after Perdue received consumer complaints about metal wire embedded within the products. FSIS has not reported any confirmed adversarial reactions related to the consumption of this stuff. However, consumers who’ve purchased the affected products are strongly advised not to eat them. Instead, the products must be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS is highlighting concerns that some products should be in consumers’ freezers. As part of the recall process, FSIS will conduct recall effectiveness reviews to make sure that the recalling firm notifies its customers that the affected products aren’t any longer available on the market. Retail distribution lists can be posted on the FSIS website as they grow to be available.
