La La Anthony reveals her most hated sports team years after Dallas Mavs fans allegedly hurled insults at her and son Kiyan

Former MTV and VH1 star La La Anthony (née Vázquez) doesn’t want her past troubles with Dallas Mavericks fans to stop her son from playing within the NBA.

The “BMF” actress hinted at Kiyan Anthony’s potential NBA future throughout the “Women Transforming Sports Through Media” panel at Fanatics Fest 2024 in New York City.

At one point, Rooks asked the panelists to call their most hated sports teams. La La replied, “I have to be careful because my son is coming in. I have to be really, really careful.”

She then revealed an incident that occurred during her relationship with Kiyan’s father, Carmelo Anthony.

“I remember there was an incident when Melo was playing with the Dallas Mavericks and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I like this team, I don’t know if I like this place.’ But that was a while ago, so maybe I’ve forgiven them since then,” she continued.

La La Anthony was referring to a memorable incident when she and 2-year-old Kiyan allegedly suffered racist taunts throughout the 2009 Western Conference semifinals game between then-fiancé Carmelo Anthony’s Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

“Of course, playoff games bring out the best and the worst in fans, but what happened Monday night — the racist insults and threats, the verbal attacks on my son, and the physical attacks on me from angry fans — was unacceptable,” La La said in a press release at the time.

The statement also said Kiyan was called “vulgar names” by his mother because he was called names early on, but when she left, she “was physically pushed”.

The footage shows the previous radio presenter entering into a heated argument with security as she is led from the front row.

La La, who will be seen pointing her finger at someone in the gang, continued: “The fans were completely out of control. The cameras caught me defending myself and didn’t show the abuse that was going on.”
