Singer Jennifer Hudson recently celebrated her son’s birthday, marking the milestone with a game that showcased the young man’s basketball skills and growth.

The Spider-Man-themed party, attended by family and friends, featured a young man with a particular Afro and a black and red T-shirt with the initials DOJ and his favorite Marvel superhero.

Hudson has been reuniting together with her son together with her ex-husband, David Otunga, who shared a series of photos on Instagram capturing moments from the celebration.

His dad with subtitles sweet, “My son’s birthday feels like my birthday because on this day 15 years ago I received the greatest gift of my life! God gave me the best friend.”

David Sr. continued, “I’m proud of David for so many reasons, but I’m most proud of the amazing man he’s becoming. I love you @doj10 and I’m excited to see what this next year brings for you.”

In the video footage of the event, two teams could be seen wearing themed shirts. Junior’s team wore red and black shirts, while the opposing team wore red and blue shirts.

Although the young player showed some manipulation throughout the game, many commentators didn’t deal with his performance when Theybf_Daily republished two photos of his famous parents on his Instagram profile.

Fans ignored the birthday and focused on David Sr.

Comments like “David gon’ have them arms out, baby!” commenting on the previous wrestler’s body. Phrases like “Damn David” and “David is fine” flooded the comments section.

One fan even noted, “Phew, Chile David is getting better with time (for the weirdos in the comments, that’s the DAD, not the son).”

However, many couldn’t resist the comment that the boy resembles the “Dreamgirls” star greater than his father.

“Why does Punk dye his beard so their son grows up to look like his mom,” one person said. Another added, “He has her entire face and doesn’t look like his dad at all.”

This is just not the primary time that celebrations of Junior’s success have been overshadowed by admiration for his father.

During the young man’s highschool graduation in June 2023, followers commented more on David Sr.’s appearance than on Junior’s accomplishments. One wrote, “Dad still doing great…congrats.”

They also expressed gratitude to David Sr. for his own achievements, including a level from Harvard University.

Among the birthday wishes, some fans focused on Hudson and Otunga’s parenting relationship.

Another die-hard EGOT fan was sure to remind the group that things weren’t all the time a bed of roses with the unique couple, stating, “Still haven’t forgotten what you did Jen… Dirty suck.”

Hudson and David Sr. dated for ten years, nine of which they spent engaged.

During their relationship, they welcomed their son, David Otunga Jr. In 2017, the couple decided to separate, which led to a custody battle. In 2019, they reached an agreement that included provisions such as prohibiting their partners from spending the night when their son was present.

They also agreed to make joint decisions about their son’s education, and Hudson would pay child support of an undisclosed amount.

It is unclear whether there have been any changes on this regard within the last five years.

One sloppy fan wrote, “I don’t care if Common is in the background of any photos,” referring to Hudson’s current relationship.

The talk show host has been dating the Chicago native for nearly two years.
