Steve Harvey Slammed for ‘Family Feud’ Confession as Fans Call Third Wife Marjorie a ‘Home Wrecker’
When it involves romance, Steve Harvey has a few tricks up his sleeve, as do his “Family Feud” contestants. A promo clip from the Aug. 8 episode of the sport show revealed the host had an unexpected bonding moment with the person scoring points on the board.
During one round, Steve, 67, asked: “If a magician proposes, can he get a ring out of what, from his girlfriend?”
A contestant named China confidently guessed “dessert,” to which the actor replied, “That’s how I proposed to my wife,” which began an exchange between two men who similarly approached popping the massive query to their women.
As Chino detailed how he hid his wife’s engagement ring under a whipped cream dessert, Steve repeatedly said, “Dog!” in amazement at their similar stories. Steve finally shouted, “Shut up! You’re a pimp too!” while shaking hands with the contestant.
In the comments of a post shared on the artist’s Instagram page, a fan wrote: “The bond, the dap up, and the fact that it was on the board. Perfect.”
A second person said: “There’s nothing better than finding your soulmate,” while a third person playfully quipped: “If only ‘cut from the same cloth’ were caught on camera.”
On an episode of Steve’s now-defunct talk show, the artist went back in time to share with viewers the entire story of how he proposed to his third, and current, wife, Marjorie Harvey.
The couple met in 1990 at a comedy club while each were married to different people and didn’t reconnect until 2005. Steve admitted that he claimed he would marry Majorie in the future as soon as he saw her. He proposed in 2006 they usually vowed the next yr.
According to Steve, he asked the Memphis native to marry him during a romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He told his daytime talk show audience that he had planned a special dinner two weeks ago, coordinating the main points of the special moment with the hotel and restaurant staff.

The comedian also shared that Marjorie was reluctant to exit for dinner after the trip, but he convinced her to persist with the plan, stopping her from thwarting his proposal. During dinner in a wine cellar, waiters brought desserts, unknowingly preparing Marjorie for the shock of her life. On her plate was a box that in the first place glance looked like gelatin.
“And when she realized it wasn’t Jell-O, she looked underneath and said, ‘Oh my God!’” Steve recalled. “And then she started crying. I opened it up and there was a pretty big diamond. I got down on one knee and proposed to her in the wine cellar,” he continued.
Comments left on YouTube praised the comedian for his romanticism, while others wrote that they’d similar engagements. But the reactions dropped when Steve’s previous marriages were mentioned.
Before he found the lady of his dreams, he was married to his first wife, Marcia Harvey, with whom he has twin daughters and a son, after which to his second wife, Mary Shackleford, with whom he has one son. Steve was rumored to have cheated in each marriages.
“Nobody cares how you cheated and left your second wife for a marriage wrecker. I don’t believe anything a person says who doesn’t practice what they preach. Smh,” the critic said.
“How did you introduce yourself to your first two wives and your significant other?” one other commenter snidely noted.
Speculators suspect that Steve, who has admitted to infidelity in previous relationships, was cheating on Shackleford with Marjorie. The couple has never given credence to the rumors.
Another comment said, “If you have years of experience proposing, nothing should go wrong.”
In July, Steve and Marjorie celebrated their seventeenth wedding anniversary, a series of posts celebrating their love for one another that got here a yr after rumors of infidelity led some to consider the couple was headed for divorce.
The Harveys say the stories repeated about their lives couldn’t be farther from the reality.
