Jonathan Majors Tears as He Confesses Love to Meagan Good in Dramatic Moment That Sends Chills to Fans
It’s been about 4 months since Jonathan Majors was sentenced to a year-long treatment program after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
Although the previous Marvel actor went through a proper trial following his sentencing in April, the general public now has to cope with him indefinitely.
Majors recently made headlines again when his emotional acceptance speech at this yr’s Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards hit the web for the second time. In a clip from the fourth annual ceremony, the 34-year-old was praised not just for receiving the Perseverance Award, but in addition for declaring his love for his girlfriend of 1 yr, Meagan Good, who was by his side in the course of the procession and on the ceremony.
In the 40-second video posted by Neighborhood Talk on Instagram, Majors looks at Good in the audience, saying, “I love you. I love you beyond all limits, with all my strength. I love you with all my heart.”
The camera cuts to a moved Good Majors, tears streaming down her face. Majors’s lament continues: “I’m supposed to be the toughest jawbreaker when you’ve carried me so, so, so many nights. I love you.”
The clip ends with the California native belting out a soaring rendition of Chaka Khan’s 1984 hit “Through the Fire,” drawing laughs from the audience and the “Eve’s Bayou” actress.
While Majors garnered loads of praise online for allowing himself to be seen in front of a room stuffed with his peers, others felt a certain quantity of second-hand embarrassment after watching the clip, and even began to query whether his actions were real.
One person rhetorically I asked “OMG this is not a sketch. Omfg y’all, I’m screaming at the top of my lungs LMFAOOOOO.”
Another skeptical fan wrote, “Acting vibes!!! They teach you to cry,” stating that it’s hard to imagine Majors since he and Good are each actors. A 3rd person joked, “He’s crying like he won an Oscar.”
The video also made its way to the X platform, where one fan wrote: “I can’t bring myself to turn up the volume on this video of Jonathan Majors crying and sneezing on stage while accepting his Hollywood Unlocked award. Spare me.”
However, there have been also those that believed that Major’s words and emotions were sincere.
One follower said: “I stuck next to him and pulled him out of a sunken place… He better cry.” Another added: “A lot of you have never had a man who truly loves you and it shows in the comments.”
One person referred to Majors’ comments about looking for a lady like Coretta Scott King. During opening statements in his trial, prosecutors said Jabbari told them that Majors wanted her to “hold herself up to the standards of Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama, to sacrifice herself for him because, as he told her, ‘I’m a great person.’”
“Megan is Jonathan’s real-life Coretta Scott King… Good to see he got what he wanted. Much love,” they wrote he wrote on X
Still, one critic said, “I don’t know… there’s something embarrassing about him.”
The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Award ceremony took place in June, and that’s when his full 17-minute speech first hit the web. Inspirational speaker and life coach Iyanla Vanzant presented him with the award in a scene where he took the stage and laid his head in her arms, crying, before speaking.
In his remarks, he also addressed his conviction, saying, “I think people want to know about this last year. As a black man in the criminal justice system, I felt anger, I felt sadness, I felt pain, I felt surprise.”
Majors’ accusations led to a backlash that affected his profession and public standing. Some condemned the “Creed III” actor for his actions, while others saw the accusations as an attempt by Jabbari to exploit her whiteness in order to destroy the popularity and lifetime of a black man.
“When they dragged me out of my apartment in handcuffs, I didn’t feel so good,” referring to his previous film roles. Majors continued, “We live in a world where men, especially black men, are portrayed as superheroes or supervillains. But for me, I realized that I am nothing like that. I am just a guy whose faith has been challenged. It has been strengthened by this testimony.”
The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Award ceremony will now premiere on Zeus.
