The second week of the 2024 Paris Olympics saw a number of fashion moments that caught our attention, from rapper and jack-of-all-trades entrepreneur Snoop Dogg commemorating an Olympian’s most memorable moment to athletes wearing beautiful pieces of jewelry to match their big day of competition. With this 12 months’s Olympics going down in Paris, the “City of Light,” it seems as if they’re tied to fashion week.
These stylish moments of Black athletes and celebrities haven’t gone unnoticed as we watch prestigious sporting events, cheering on all Black people across the diaspora. It’s refreshing to see these athletes express themselves in any way they need, with small accessories, sometimes value hundreds of dollars, like in the article below by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. These stylish moments have been etched in the history of this generation, very like the looks Flo Jo wore in the 80s when she won gold. We are witnessing some of the most original moments in history, adorned with style.
Snoop Dogg Pays Tribute to Noah Lyles in US-Inspired Custom Look
Noah Lyles won the 100m for the USA, becoming the first American to win the race in 20 years, let alone a black man! Snoop Dogg hosting the Olympics was the smartest thing that happened, as he showed up and showed up in hilarious outfits, like the one below, honoring Lyle and commemorating his winning moment on a printed T-shirt and a red, white, and blue bomber jacket with the same print. To accessorize, Snoop added an enormous Eiffel Tower chain around his neck and a pair of sunglasses in the shape of the Olympic logo.
Gabrielle Union in Ralph Lauren
While watching the women’s gymnastics freestyle final, we saw Gabrielle Union cheering for the USA, wearing a navy A-line dress with red and white top stitching, designed by Ralph Lauren which is now available on the site for $198. At her waist, she wore a striped, blue and white button-up shirt over the dress.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Runs on Richard Mille Watch
During the first round of the women’s 100-meter dash, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wore a $185,000 Richard Mille watch. Her green hair fluttered in the wind, and the watch flew past in several still shots, like the one below. The orange and grey color scheme worked well against her yellow uniform. The intricate detailing on the watch’s case alone made it clear why Fraser-Pryce desired to stretch it for her historic run.
Julien Alfred adds a touch of elegance along with his necklace
In the 200m, Julien Alfred won the silver medal wearing the most delicate gold necklace. It was so small it could possibly be classified as a choker. It added a female and stylish energy to her blue and yellow Saint Lucia uniform. She also added a tiny pair of gold hoop earrings with a small diamond stud placed on a hoop on one ear.
Quincy Hall “A” Layer Chains
In the men’s 400-meter final, Quincy Hall won gold wearing not one, but two gold chains. One was left plain, with a rope-like texture, while the other, layered over the top, had a diamond-encrusted “A” on the classic chain. By the end of the race, he was wearing three gold chains.
Pharrell Williams in Louis Vuitton shorts
During the gymnastics finals, Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director Pharrell Williams wore LV monogram shorts in a tan and brown colorway, paired with a logo-printed sweater, also in brown. He added a beige Kenzo Paris baseball cap and orange Louis Vuitton aviator sunglasses. The monochromatic look was far from boring.
Letsile Tebogo from Botswana wears colourful Nike trainers
Letsile Tebogo wore orange polka dot pants during the men’s 200m final Nike Maxfly 2 Electric sprint spikes, that are currently available on their website for $190. One of the shoes has the date “23-12-1980,” his mother’s birth date, stamped on it. After winning the race, Tebogo took off his shoes and wrapped them around his neck to point out the date, and wrapped a flag around his shoulders.
