“We are BLESSED, GRATEFUL and CANNOT WAIT to meet our little one!!!” the longer term mother wrote under the post.
Speaking to Vogue , Akech said she has 10 weeks left to go, meaning she was just over a month pregnant at the Met Gala when she showed up in a skintight LaQuan Smith lace jumpsuit. She said that pregnancy up until that time had been “a beautiful feeling, but also a mental and physical rollercoaster. Nothing really prepares you for it.”
She had a craving for oranges and her appetite fluctuated.
“I want everything — I’ll make my mom cook three traditional dishes, and on top of that I’ll eat KFC,” she said.

While she admitted the pregnancy got here as something of a surprise to her, she is worked up to begin the journey towards motherhood at her “young” age.
Akech, whose mother was 20 when she was born, said: “I always said I wanted to be a young mother because I liked the idea of growing up with children.”
She added that the 20-year age difference between her and her mother “plays a huge role in how close we are.”
Though she’s three years younger than the present U.S. average for first-time moms, she’s in good company amongst young and famous first-time black women. Actress/singer Halle Bailey and tennis player Naomi Osaka recently welcomed a clutch of lucky under-26s into the world.
In addition to being close to her future child, Akech told the publication that she has a sense of what she wants to show them. Reflecting on her upbringing in South Sudan, which included eight years living in a refugee camp in Kenya, Akech said, “When you don’t come from a great place, you don’t really value material things.”
She has managed to not get “carried away” by her current life and intends to instill this concept in her future children, encouraging them to work hard for what they need in life.
“My mother had nothing! I bought myself my first car, so I’ll make sure my children buy their first car,” she added.
She continued: “I just want to teach my kids what’s valuable. What’s not. Just to be a nice, decent human being.”
