Oshei Jackson Jr.’s Unrecognizable Appearance at Basketball Game Sparks Storm of Reaction
O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s striking resemblance to his father, O’Shea Jackson Sr., known to the world as rapper Ice Cube, has been a subject of discussion for years.
That resemblance landed Jackson Jr. the role of the daddy within the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay.
Nearly a decade after his breakthrough role, Jackson Jr. has apparently gained weight, which has fans doing a double take.
The comments began in May 2023 when he was imagined to awarded within the Los Angeles Rams’ “Are You Gonna Be Here For It?” campaign. Fans expressed their opinion of the NFL promo he posted online, with one noting, “Dawg, how and when did you get so fat. Get back to it champ!”
Now, in 2024, increasingly more fans are noticing the Den of Thieves actor’s fuller face and muscular physique, though some apparently don’t mind. In April, during a wrestling event, a fan bluntly stated to X within the comments of a live broadcast, “You’re so cool fat “bro.”
In July, Oshea Jr. was stopped at one of his father’s Big3 events by a reporter who asked him about his support for LeBron James’ son, Bronny, who was recently drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.
He proudly replied: “I will never hate a younger colleague.”
Videographer Jessie Lunchbox Published clip of their Instagram interaction, and fans weren’t kind to comments about his size.
“Bro, I’ve been eating well since Straight Outta Compton,” one person wrote of the film, which has grossed greater than $201 million. Another, referring to her father’s rap nickname, said, “My man is turning into an iceberg.”
More jokes followed, akin to “Ice Cube’s son, Snow Cone” and that he “ran straight from spice.”
“The brother looks like Teddy Graham,” one of the page’s followers commented.
Someone again responded to the query about hating Junior by saying, “I never hated Junior for his bacon cheeseburger either.”
While some might imagine they’re dragging Nepo Kid behind them, Jackson Jr. has been busy with TV and movie roles, including mini-series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and movies akin to “Cocaine Bear,” “Only Justice” and “Godzilla II: King of the Monsters.”
The weight doesn’t appear to stop Hollywood from knocking on his door — or his father’s. Despite harsh comments about his looks, Jackson Jr. stays a sought-after actor within the industry.
His continued success within the entertainment industry proves that he can rise above the criticism and hate that individuals on social media may throw at him.
One fan agreed, saying: “They tell him he’s gaining weight and I say they pay him.”
Oshea Jr. can even star within the upcoming film “Den of Thieves 2: Panther,” reprising his role as Donnie Wilson alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
