RZA Joins LL Cool J and Irving Azoff to Elevate Wu-Tang Clan
The band’s founder and sound architect, RZA, teamed up with Iconic Artists Group and Rock the Bells to expand the Wu-Tang Clan name.
According to RZA, whose real name is Robert Diggs, working with respected music executive Irving Azor, owner of Iconic Artists Group, and fellow hip-hop artist LL COOL J, who fronts Rock the Bells, to further expand the Wu-Tang Clan brand.
“As we evolve from ‘Legendary Status’ to ‘Iconic Status,’ it is only fitting and coincidental that we join the ranks of Iconic Artists Group and Rock The Bells,” RZA said in a written statement. “This partnership will help us continue to showcase and expand the legacy of the Wu-Tang Clan.”
The partnership will help promote the music, brand, philosophy and lifestyle of the Staten Island musical group, which incorporates rappers RZA, Method Man, Cappadonna, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, GZA, Masta Killa and the group’s late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
“The Wu-Tang Clan brand and music have been cornerstones of hip-hop culture,” said LL COOL J. “Our partnership with Iconic Artists Group will allow us to leverage Rock The Bells’ multi-faceted platform—including radio, e-commerce, licensing, content and live events—to connect and engage fans with this iconic brand. Together, we will ensure that the Wu-Tang Clan legacy and timeless hip-hop remain powerful forces for generations to come.”
Both entities will help create more opportunities for Wu-Tang Clan through its music. This will involve the brand being involved in film, television, merchandise and brand partnerships. The partnership may also happen online for all things Wu-Tang Clan.
“Wu-Tang Clan is more than just a musical group; it’s a cultural phenomenon,” said Jimmy Edwards, president of Iconic. “We can’t wait to combine our unique strengths to create something truly unparalleled.”
RZA has already teamed up with Rock the Bells as he hosts #WuWednesdays on SiriusXM Channel 43.
