Utah Black Chamber of Commerce to Host Conference

Utah Black Chamber of Commerce will host the primary Utah Black Chamber Wealth Esteem Conference August 14th.

The event, held at Millcreek Commons, goals to empower each people and businesses to succeed. The conference can also be designed to allow attendees to learn from industry experts and potentially network with investors and business partners.

“The Wealth Esteem Conference is a significant step forward in economic empowerment for our community,” said Dr. Sidni Shorter, president and CEO of the Utah Black Chamber of Commerce, in a press release. “We bring together some of the brightest minds and industry leaders to equip our members with the knowledge and resources they need to build sustainable wealth. This is more than just a conference; it is a catalyst for change and growth.”

The Wealth Esteem conference also falls consistent with the group’s Financial Capacity Program, which provides 10 to 15 Black businesses within the Utah Black Chamber of Commerce the chance to take part in a six-month program designed to discover, structure and construct an accounting system that can help businesses make higher, more informed financial decisions. The program will run from July to December 2024.

One of the keynote speakers on the event can be Ashley D. Bell, CEO of Redemption Holding, a black-owned holding company that was built to increase access to capital for businesses run by people of color.

Others include J. Alexander Martin, founder and executive vp of FUBU and CEO of For Us By Us Network; Dr. Calvin Mackie, founder of STEM NOLA, a Louisiana-based nonprofit organization, designs and conducts project-based and hands-on learning activities for college kids in grades K-12; and Kim Roxie, CEO and founder of LAMIK Cosmetics, a vegan cosmetics line, strives to construct an inclusive community for girls of color.

The event will happen from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an invitation-only session from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. where you should have the chance to engage in exclusive interaction with keynote speakers and session leaders.

According to the leaflet promoting the event“This conference aims to provide attendees with practical insights, valuable connections, and a sense of community as they work to overcome the systemic barriers that Black entrepreneurs and investors face. The importance of a Black wealth conference that emphasizes wealth creation, growth, sharing, and sustainability cannot be overstated.”
