Quinta Brunson on Mysterious ‘Abbott Elementary’ Crossover: ‘It Will Change TV as We Know It’

Quinta Brunson talks in regards to the recent season of her popular series Abbott Elementary.

The Emmy winner joined her “Abbott” co-stars Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph and William Stanford Davis at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, where she revealed that the brand new season will feature a crossover episode. Brunson didn’t reveal which TV series will probably be featured within the show, but said it might be “interesting,” in line with People.

“I won’t tell you who, what, where or when, but it’s really exciting and I think it’s going to change television as we know it,” she said on Saturday, July 27, of the upcoming crossover.

Brunson later shared the inspiration behind the special episode, saying: Diversity that she loved the crossover episodes featuring the forged of “That’s So Raven,” “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” and “Hannah Montana” on Disney Channel.

“These things bring life to the TV audience, to the TV audience, and I think it’s always fun to find ways to bring life to our audience,” she explained. “With ‘Abbott,’ it’s important that we protect the show. Because it’s a mockumentary, we have to protect what we do, but find a way to still make something that’s so cool. That makes me really, really happy. It’s just an ode to the medium.”

“I live for magical moments like this and I’m thrilled to be able to bring one to television with Abbott,” she added.

Brunson has had so much to rejoice this yr. The actress made history on the seventy fifth Emmy Awards in January when she won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Janine Teagues. Brunson is the second black actress in Emmy history — and the primary in greater than 40 years — to win within the category, in line with Hollywood Reporter.

“I loved making ‘Abbott Elementary’ and I’m so happy to be able to fulfill my dream of doing a comedy,” Brunson said in her acceptance speech.

In July, Brunson was nominated for an Emmy for her third leading role in a comedy series. Seasons 1-3 of “Abbott Elementary” can be found to stream on Hulu. The fourth season of the series will premiere on ABC on October 9 at 9:30 p.m.
