Stars Serve Blonde Hairstyles at Olympic Opening Party – Essence

The 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off last night with a Louis Vuitton opening reception as a “prelude” to the games themselves. The event, hosted by Olympic sponsor LVMH Bernard Arnault, LV menswear creative director Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, was filled with celebrity guests – including Zendaya, Tyla and Serena Williams – who opted for gold with blonde hair. As the summer’s favourite hair color, we’ve seen stars go from platinum and ash blonde to honey and silver blonde over the past few months.
Arriving on a green carpet inspired by the track, 4-time Olympic gold medalist and Wyn Beauty founder Serena Williams co-hosted the event in a golden blonde with loose waves. Although the retired tennis champion isn’t any longer competing within the Olympics––Coconut gauff Tomorrow she is going to dominate the primary round of ladies’s doubles – we are able to still expect her to serve well in Paris.
The biggest tennis player of all time is dating tennis actress Zendaya Coleman, who wore her blonde hair in a slicked-back wet look. Spotted at Wimbledon earlier this month, her then-inverted bob was transformed into an Olympic version for yesterday’s opening night. In the same vein to Williams, her dark roots were successful, while she donned a no-makeup make-up look – peach lips, mascara and highlighter – to match the sporty, sweat-soaked finish.
Next up, all eyes were on South African pop star Tyla, whose transition to blonde was more gradual than most celebrities (hint: Zendaya’s surprising blonde bob just before the press tour). Instead, Tyla showed up in a grimy blonde; a multi-coloured bob that included a mixture of blonde, brown, and dark brown. A number of short braids swept her hair behind her ear, and a slit separated her eyebrows; all topped off with two-toned lipstick, blush, and powdery eye shadow.
With the Olympics kicking off in Paris today, we expect to see more of yesterday’s guest list within the stands, but this time on the track as well. From our favourite 100m star Sha’Carri Richardson’s nail moments to probably the most decorated gymnast in history Simone Biles’ tape-in hair extensions, we’ll should wait and see who wins the Paris Olympics and the Olympics in the sweetness department this season.
