Chrissy Teigen Slammed for Being Half-Naked on Family Trip to Paris with Kids and John Legend
Model Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend were amongst various American celebrities who took their families to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. Known for her impeccable fashion sense, many were surprised to see the Sports Illustrated cover girl miss the mark on the family-friendly event by wearing “crochet panties” in public.
Teigen was snapped on the Olympic opening ceremony in front of the historic Eiffel Tower in Paris wearing an olive green Chloe sweater and black and gold strappy heels. The monochromatic outfit featured a cardigan with gold buttons and tiny cable-knit shorts that resembled swim trunks.
Her husband, an Ivy League graduate and one in all the youngest black men to win an EGOT, opted for a more conservative look. The singer wore a black suit, white shirt and white sneakers. Although he skipped a tie, he did wear a classic gold watch as he stood behind their two older children, Miles, 6, and Luna, 8. Their younger children, Esti, 1 ½, and Wren, 1, weren’t present for the mini photoshoot.
People Magazine awarded a photograph of Miles in an lovely patterned green crop top, goofing off, while older sister Luna smiles in a soft pink ensemble, accessorized with a cute bag. Despite the lovely family moments, social media users were quick to criticize Teigen’s outfit.
“This outfit is absolutely inappropriate for any situation I can imagine,” one fan commented, while one other added: “I can’t imagine wearing this on a night out with the kids.”
Another fan asked: “What kind of example are you setting for your very sensitive daughter?”
A fourth comment joked: “I see London, I see France — I see that ding dong’s panties!”, referring to a well-liked nursery rhyme. Others simply said: “Going out in panties is crazy.”
Everyday fashion bomb Also shared family photos, and people were equally surprised by her fashion selection, focusing on her “crocheted panties.”
Someone commented, “The family looks so healthy and Chrissy said ‘crochet me some panties.'” Another fan didn’t find it funny and said, “Crocheting panties for the Olympics is crazy.”
Some suggested the outfit could use a number of tweaks. “It would be so chic to just wear a nice pair of jeans and a pair of heels,” one person noted, adding, “Smh, look around the room.”
While Teigen’s outfit drew criticism, one other American mom was praised for her look. Fans couldn’t get enough of Serena Williams’ elegant look in Paris ahead of the opening ceremony.
Styled by Pharrell Williams and with flawless make-up, the tennis champion stunned at Louis Vuitton at a celebration the day before the official opening of the Games. Social media was abuzz with admiration, especially for her make-up. “Who is this? Who? No way! SERENA WILLIAMS looks so good! Oh my!” exclaimed one fan.
Williams, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, also brought her older daughter and husband to the opening ceremony. Her daughter, Olympia, stole the show.
Fans appreciated how the Compton beauty performed flawlessly on the ceremony, smiling at how great (and appropriate) her family looked on the red carpet.
