Black AI Consortium Forms for Tech Researchers in Diaspora

The Black AI Consortium has officially launched in the tech space. This space goals to spark dialogue and progress in AI with Black scientists on the forefront.

Founded in May, the Black AI Consortium provides a network for those interested in science across the African diaspora. Members are encouraged to share ideas and supply insights on AI while addressing current AI issues.

Her mission, Reported by The goal of Black News is to “create a vibrant and supportive community where people from the African diaspora can share experiences, knowledge, and resources related to AI.” The three creators are experts in their fields

Dr. Jimmie J. Davies has a background in mathematics. His company, MacMaster Computer Services, offers computer training workshops nationwide. Dr. Dannielle Joy Davis holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies. Using her background in education policy, she has developed programs that profit marginalized communities around the globe. Twice elected as Chair of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Spirituality and Education Special Interest Group (SIG), she has served on the AERA Qualitative Research SIG Leadership Team.

Rev. Dr. Philippe “SHOCK” Matthews is a research scientist whose work spans GPT development and metaphysics. His concentrate on trauma, particularly in the Black Diaspora, aids his mission to find “what” happened to Black people and how you can dismantle it.

Through educational and mentoring opportunities, the Black AI Consortium will seek to support a multi-generational cohort to interrupt down barriers in technology. Currently, racial bias and discrimination surround advances in AI.

However, the existence of the consortium proves that black individuals are interested in AI and proceed to debate it.

Together with its curators, the consortium will explore the potential of AI technologies to enhance the social, physical, and economic conditions of diverse groups. By leveraging their knowledge and developing their ideas, AI will be an ally in improving the lives of black people.
