22-Year-Old D.C. Woman Alleges Kills 53-Year-Old Sponsor, Then Cuts Off His Thumb to Access Bank Account for Uber Rides, Marijuana, and Alcohol

Police within the country’s capital said an Ethiopian man paid the final word price for becoming a lady’s “sugar daddy.”

Two suspects have now been charged with first-degree murder in reference to the gruesome stabbing of 53-year-old Fasil Mulatu Teklemariam, whose severed thumb was used to steal money from his checking account to pay for an evening of medicine, alcohol and rides, according to police.

More than three months after the shocking crime, Washington authorities announced on July 12 the arrest of 19-year-old Audrey Denise Miller and 22-year-old Tiffany Taylor Gray.

Both men have been charged with first-degree murder and murder with a deadly weapon in reference to the death of Teklemariam, whose body was found April 5 in his apartment within the Brightwood, Washington, neighborhood.

Both suspects remain in custody after being issued with a no-bail order, according to Fox 5 DC.

A preliminary hearing for Miller is scheduled for later this month, while Greene awaits extradition from Prince George’s County, where she was arrested last week, to Washington.

Police said Teklemariam was last seen alive on April 1, when he met Miller outside her apartment and accompanied her inside. He later left briefly and returned with several sodas. Surveillance footage then shows the suspects leaving Teklemariam’s apartment, and cellphone data indicates the victim’s phone also left the realm late that night, court records say.

Authorities said Teklemariam was killed not less than five days before police found his body, and his thumb was severed just before or shortly after his death.

Investigators said the thumb was never found since the attackers threw it away.

Miller’s arrest warrant indicated investigators suspected she fatally stabbed and struck Teklemariam with a knife.

The circumstances leading up to the killing are unclear. Police haven’t revealed the person’s true relationship with the suspects, how they met, or how long Teklemariam had been in a relationship with them.

Police didn’t indicate whether the motive was greed or robbery.

Police didn’t charge the pair with theft, although they were seen taking several items from the person’s home.

Police said Teklemariam was involved with Gray in a “sugar daddy” role, according to a report within the Washington Post — an arrangement that always included gifts and financial support in exchange for sex and affection.

But in Teklemariam’s case, according to police, the affair ended together with his brutal murder.

According to an autopsy report conducted by the county health worker, the person was stabbed in the guts and suffered multiple skull fractures.

The most striking thing concerning the victim was that his right thumb was missing, but he had a lot of other injuries, including slash wounds to his legs and a nasty scar on his hand, which was missing his thumb. It was likely a defensive wound.

According to detectives, after the knife attack, the pair left the person’s home, taking electronics and other valuables with them.

Surveillance footage from the constructing where the victim lived shows two suspects, in addition to not less than two masked men, ransacking Teklemariam’s home.

According to witness statements, Gray allegedly helped Miller cut off the person’s thumb.

According to court documents, Gray allegedly used her severed thumb on a banking app to get money for Uber rides, marijuana and alcohol. The documents also say Gray used fake names, including the alias “Taylor Greene,” to hide her true identity.

Family and friends honored Teklemariam’s memory on a web site, describing him as a “caring son, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend.”
