Taraji P. Henson says she’s ‘proud’ of Megan Thee Stallion for overcoming ‘all the odds’

The actress, who’s hosting Sunday’s BET Awards, praised the rapper, who is about to perform, in a recent interview with BET Magazine People. Henson attended Megan’s “Hot Girl Summer Tour” in Los Angeles, where she praised the Houston-born artist.
“It was the first time I saw her perform live on her stage as a headliner. She is amazing,” Henson said. “She managed to beat all adversities and rise above them. She is awesome. I really like you Megan and I’m so proud of you. By the way, that is my daughter.
Henson met Megan some time back when she starred in Megan’s 2020 music video “Body” alongside Blac Chyna, Jordyn Woods, Maliibu Miitch, Asian Da Brat, and Tabrii Majors. The actress says she’s an “auntie” to many ladies in Hollywood since it’s vital to her to support other women.
“I’m like an aunt, you know? I’m a girl. In everything women do, I am there,” she shared. “I’m a cheerleader. I’m the loudest up front and I’m rooting for them, and that’s who you’re supposed to be as a senior.”
“Be here for these children! You know, it’s hard enough for women here, and I’m not going to be another obstacle for another woman. So I am a champion,” Henson continued. “I’m a team player. I’m a lady. Go Meg. Go Meg. I got you. I really like you.”

Henson also touched on her upcoming show on BET, which might be her third time hosting the awards show. It was originally scheduled to host in 2023, but the network canceled the ceremony on account of SAG and WAG strikes.
“I was ready to host last year and then we had the (SAG and WGA) strike,” Henson said. “So I’m really excited about this year. It will be an amazing spectacle. It’s the biggest night of culture. The performances will delight us all. We’ve got Will Smith, guys. I’m very excited to see what he has in store.”
