The prince will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after initially turning down the offer twice

Prince finally gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to reports, the singer, who died tragically on April 21, 2016, refused this honor twice during his life. PeopleNow, Prince will receive a posthumous star as part of an honorary induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday, June 25.

Prince will join several other A-listers, including Nia Long, Misty Copeland, Fantasia, Jane Fonda and David Beckham, who will also receive a star this yr. According to Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez, the “Kiss” singer discussed the possibility of being nominated with the Walk of Fame before his death, but said he was “not ready” for the honor.

Walk of Fame selection panel chairman Peter Roth praised the 2025 award recipients in a statement, saying the Walk of Fame had “made history again.”

“As chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, I am thrilled to announce the names of the distinguished recipients who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in the class of 2025,” Roth said in a statement press release. “Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their field. The committee and I look forward to our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”

The rules for nominating a celebrity to receive a star change after the celebrity’s death. Martinez told People magazine that there may be a two-year mourning period and the deceased star’s family or estate must log out on the nomination.
