WNBA star A’ja Wilson has grow to be the topic of controversy after Just Women’s Sports, a platform that purports to support female athletes, ridiculed her recently unveiled Nike logo in a social media post.

The platform shared a video on X showing several women mocking Wilson’s emblem. After the clip was discovered, Wilson quickly responded, expressing her disappointment: “…this is lame because it comes from a site that (should) be intended for ‘us’…”

She acknowledged that opinions are part of the sport, but found the location’s approach particularly discouraging. The now-deleted video shows the group’s response to Wilson’s description of the brand, which mixes the letter A with a star. One participant displayed a meme that turned the design into the word “A*s”, suggesting its poor quality.

Wilson’s supporters rallied behind her, praising the brand’s creativity and private meaning. One fan declared, “…It’s innovative and creative…it’s A’ONE!” while one other emphasized that it represents Wilson’s personality. A 3rd user X stated that he was willing to place Wilson’s logo on his shoes and shorts. Another fan wrote, “Why would you are trying to downplay it? If you may’t ensure about it, KEEP YOUR OPINION TO YOURSELF. WE SOUTH CAROLINA DO NOT PLAY FOR A’JA WILSON.

The incident follows an earlier controversy during which Wilson was accused of being jealous after Nike announced a take care of Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. Wilson dismissed the accusations, stating, “Nobody’s jealous… I have no reason to be… I really wish 143 all the best…”

May 11 Nike welcomed Wilson to their family of athletes. The brand highlighted its year-long collaboration in creating a group that reflects its unique style and uncompromising authenticity. Nike praised Wilson as “one of the most iconic basketball players of her generation.”

Wilson joins an elite group of female athletes with Nike lines, including tennis legend Serena Williams and soccer star Megan Rapinoe. The partnership underscores Nike’s commitment to elevating women’s sports and creating products with deeper meaning.
