Kandi Burruss Tried Ozempic and Got ‘Depressed’ When She ‘Didn’t Lose Weight’
Although Ozempic is the explanation why many famous faces in Hollywood have recently lost weight, it shouldn’t be the miracle weight reduction drug that everyone seems to be supposedly told about. Just ask former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss.
The producer and actress opened up on a recent episode of “Page Six”Virtual Reali Tea” podcast about trying a drug that’s used to treat type 2 diabetes and is touted for its effects on obesity and weight reduction. Despite many reports of unexpected weight reduction, the drug has not been specifically approved to be used for weight reduction.
“I tried this last year,” she said. “I’ve seen a lot of people try this and lose weight. So I thought, “OK, I’ll try this.” And I haven’t lost any weight at all.”
Burruss recalled that when she didn’t see movement on the dimensions, a few of her friends wondered if something was “wrong” along with her or if her dose was fallacious. In fact, even her doctor was surprised by her lack of weight reduction.
She added: “It didn’t curb my appetite. I know some people think, “Oh, I can’t eat.” Not me! I had an appetizer, a regular meal and dessert, OK? For me, it didn’t stop anything.”
Worse still, the experience began to have an adversarial effect on Burruss’ mental health.
“When you see it worked for other people and it doesn’t work for you, you get depressed,” she explained. “You actually seem to be thinking, ‘What’s wrong with me?’ Why doesn’t this work for me?”

Because Ozempic didn’t result in Burruss’ weight reduction, she returned to exercising more often, eating healthily, and taking Hydroxycut dietary supplements. She told Page Six that her goal is to get back to the figure she had just before leaving “RHOA.” After her departure, the truth star admitted that she began to indulge herself.
“After I left Housewives, I ate well and lived well. Now do not forget that at the highest of the 12 months I used to be already 10 kilos greater than I wanted. But then, after I announced I wasn’t going to do ‘Desperate Housewives’ anymore, I ate dessert daily, went on trips and just lived life,” she continued. “Before I knew it, I weighed about 170 kilos. And it wasn’t sweet.
Burruss’ current goal is to lose about 20 kilos, although she has stated that she “would like” to lose 30, and her weight has returned to 130 kilos.
“I have a running joke that I haven’t weighed 130 pounds since I was 30,” Burruss said with fun.
