Do you have enough money to plot?
Twenty years ago, a poetry collective from Atlanta released a platinum hit that defined the spirit of black resistance, youthful exuberance, and, above all, the particular mentality needed to fight one another.
They called it “Knuck if it breaks“
Released on June 29, 2004, “Knuck if You Buck” is just not only a song; that is the anthem. It’s also an instructional video and a barometer for individuals who want “that smoke.” In three minutes and 28 seconds, Crime Mob and Lil Scrappy set the “fuck you” parameters for anyone who wants to “find out.” While it has change into a rallying cry for losers and a signal to others that it is time to leave the club, the literal “slam poem” is way more than an invite to riot.
For Black Music Month, theGrio wanted to explore, explain and break down the scientific principles surrounding this lullaby. Is buckness required or is it simply advisable? Should potential knuckers use a cumulative scale or a knuck-to-buck ratio? And most significantly, why would anyone even try to plot?
Fortunately, we have answers.
What is knocking?
“Knucking” is just not only a synonym for fighting; that is movement.
Punk rock inspirations have all the time been present moshing movement in underground hip-hop. In the golden age of hip-hop, parties erupted in raucous joy as DJs played “House of Pain”Jump around,,Onyx”Slam” or “ Mash Out Posse”Ante up.” But Dirty South took this trend to one other level.
At the start of the twenty first century “Chefbuss rap” emerged as Southern rap’s own gene. Partygoers in the Deep South were “throwing strings” long before Ludacris released “Southern hospitality” Songs like “Never Scared” by Bone Crusher and Lil Scrappy Bosses“Pastor Troy”No Mo Play GAand – perhaps most famous of all – “Three Six Mafia”Break up the club” weren’t just underground club hits, but were major southern hits.
Although non-Southerners often confuse the tapping movement with “crunk music”, the 2 concepts should not the identical. In fact, you could say that knocking is just a type of male twerking. Like the 69 Boyz-inspired sneakers wearing a tennis skirt, which modified the Butterfly model to “Product roll“, Master P’s opening “Hot girls and boys“that was enough to turn the dance floor right into a black pogo stage stuffed with young black men in oversized T-shirts.

In fact, brain scans showed the “Three 6 Mafia”Hit the MF” activated the identical areas of the cerebellum in men as women who listened to “Scrub the bottom” However, according to the BUCK project’s dedicated Team for Armed Elbows, Rhythmic Knuckle Throwing and Energetic Butt Movement (TWERKTEAM), people diagnosed with BUCK syndrome vary.
Yes, buckness is a medical diagnosis.
Buck, explained.
To properly understand the 2 different interpretations of the term “buck”, you must first understand the etymological and grammatical origins of the expression.
As an adjective, this scientific term describes an uncompromising lack of concern for the negative consequences of 1’s actions. Although many individuals wrongly assume that the word “buck” is a shortened version of the word “buckwild”, it is definitely a portmanteau of the phrase “without moles”, according to the Black Literary Almanac of Communication, Knowledge, Slang, Patois, Euphemisms and Conversational Homilies (CZARNOMOWA).
Until recently, African Americans attributed feistiness to an absence of home training or poor upbringing. However, scientists recently isolated the gene liable for this behavior. Their research shows that adolescent Buckness Syndrome is liable for 72.8% of giggling, giggling, jumping around, yelling, and in extreme cases, behaviors described as “acting too damn stupid.”
As a verb, the term describes the actions of rich individuals. While most persons are willing to comply with requests to “start none,” individuals with adult seizures should not concerned about making a “no start” environment. They are ready to fight for essentially the most harmless motion. They “tease” someone for being disrespectful” or “grab” someone for “acting funny.” In essentially the most extreme cases, a one who is making money can earn it by firing a number of shots at opponents who’re low on money.
Buckness symptoms
We are proud to announce that the goat vaccine is within the early stages of development. But until the FDA approves “buccina,” Buckology Research University of the Hood (BRUH) has identified 4 different symptoms in people affected by adult-onset Buckness:
- Brazen: Outbursts of madness are unpredictable, but for some reason individuals who commit mischief have to openly announce their hometown. They can not help it. Honestly, people shouting “Brooklyn!” are at home, and the Crime Mob repeatedly mentions Ellenwood, Georgia. However, our data shows that residents of Duval County, Florida are thrice more likely to engage in an act of robbery. (Listen, I’m just telling you what BRUH told me.)
- Unruly: Buck’s children could be addicted to getting into and out of those doors and sometimes talk when adults talk. But amongst adults, just about all goat-related behavior is expounded to “stuff.” They are greater than willing to “throw things at them” while “getting kicked.” Generally, you should leave the premises when someone says, “I won’t be here when I get back.” Buck people “Keep it with them.
- Crazy: In interviews, respondents often compared themselves to Saddam Hussein, Hitler and even Osama bin Laden. More importantly, they often persuade themselves that they’re surrounded by invisible enemies who’re out to get them. BRUH claims that 37.4% of bucksters punched their “opponents.” Another 22.6% were directed at “haters” who cannot stand to see them shine. The smaller percentage was due to the shortcoming of others to keep the name of the defender from their mouths.
- Knucklehead: A silly “nigger with a gun and a gun on your damn street” could be exercising his Second Amendment rights, but when someone is “stomping, jumping, jumping” or being “ready to fight,” he could also be close to a deer. Not everyone who exhibits this behavior carries the deer gene. But if you hear someone shouting “Duuuuuuvaaaaal!” opening the trunk; get the fuck out of there. There will probably be a deer soon.
An untreated person with adult-onset Buck syndrome may exhibit a number of the symptoms described by Crime Mob, including talking totin, holding a gun, shaking dreadlocks, and the will to “turn someone’s head upside down” – all of which fall into the jackpot category. If this appears like someone you know, trust me, you’re flawed. In addition to the acronym, you may recognize Buck’s universal war cry:
“You do not know me!”
“DUUUUUVALLLLL!”
Knuck-Buck continuum
Now that you understand the fundamentals of slapping and jerking, it is usually vital to understand the connection between them.
In the past, some mathematicians incorrectly expressed the Crime Mob premise as follows: If U = buck → U = knuck. However, newer generations quickly realized that knocking and plucking were two separate and distinct activities. According to the principles of Knuckonomics, an individual’s level of courage is just not necessarily related to their decision to knuck. As our completely scientific chart shows, hitting and jerking are two separate activities.
As you can see, not only is dribbling not a needed component of knocking, nevertheless it is entirely possible for somebody to exhibit a high level of dribbling without ever tapping it.
One of essentially the most recent examples of this phenomenon is Kendrick Lamar beef. Initially, Drake was extremely shiny, but ultimately proved to be insufficiently expert at punching. Kendrick Lamar, however, wasn’t outwardly shiny, but when pushed, he showed world-class punching skills. While the blacks on the infamous riverboat Montgomery had great stamina and endurance, the white fighters were downright smart.
Perhaps essentially the most famous hitting and hitting took place On July 9, 1919 when rumors spread in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, that a white mob was preparing to lynch a falsely accused Black man. Recalling how A 5,000-person white crowd lynched Zacaharia Walker a number of years earlier, Coatesville’s black residents took up guns, bats, and ax handles and marched to the town jail. Given the selection of playing around or checking out, Coatesville’s white residents proved they were confident but not ready to hand over.
Nearly 125 years later, not a single black man has been lynched in Pennsylvania.
Now it is a “criminal mob.”
