Court documents say a drunk driver was found with his “entire hand on the front passenger seat” after a gruesome hit-and-run in Dallas. He says he only had ‘one shot from the client’

A Dallas man allegedly admitted to killing and hitting a pedestrian while intoxicated, then fled the scene with the victim’s bloody hand in the passenger seat.

Juan Morgan Munoz, 31, was arrested on June 14, 2024 at 1:30 a.m. and is currently facing charges for striking an unidentified victim at the intersection of Storey Lane and I-35E. After the crash, Munoz allegedly drove his white BMW to work at an auto repair shop about a mile away. He then waited half-hour before calling 911 to alert authorities, and the severed body part was found in his automotive.

Munoz admitted to drinking tequila at a Hooters restaurant in Grand Prairie earlier in the day, adding that he had “one shot of Patron in the afternoon,” in response to his arrest affidavit obtained by the local station. WFFA.

He stated that he didn’t use pharmaceuticals or illegal drugs, and when asked to rate himself on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being sober), he gave himself a “2 or 3” and stated that he felt secure to drive. He failed all sobriety tests. After a breathalyzer test, his reading was allegedly 0.179, greater than twice the legal limit.

When police arrived at Maaco Auto Body Shop, they noticed Munoz had glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words, in response to his arrest affidavit. His automotive had a huge hole in the windshield, and police eventually made the gruesome discovery of “his entire arm on the front passenger seat” along with blood.

Munoz was arrested on suspicion of felony DWI and collision resulting in death. The Dallas Police Department confirmed to People that additional charges are possible.

Before being booked into jail, Munoz reportedly told officers he had cocaine in his system. He has two prior DWI convictions, in response to WFFA. He pleaded guilty to a charge from New Hampshire in 2018 and was reportedly on probation for a second charge from 2023 in Fort Worth when this accident occurred.

In addition to the criminal charges against Munoz, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating whether the alcohol in query was served in violation of state law. Serving alcohol to someone who appears intoxicated is a public safety violation that might result in financial penalties.
