Will Smith is having a moment of redemption after the ridicule and public criticism he has faced since punching Chris Rock in the face at the 2022 Oscars. He then won an Academy Award for Best Leading Actor for his role as Serena and Venus’ father in King Richard.

The comedian has repeatedly apologized for the infamous punch, which he referenced in his latest film, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”

Near the end of the film, Smith was punched multiple times by his co-star, Martin Lawrence. Making the film was “really personal,” says director Bilall Fallah, one half of the Belgian directing duo referred to as Adil & Bilall, in a Variety interview.

However, many had mixed feelings about recreating the humiliating moment for each Rock and Smith that nearly destroyed the careers of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

It looks like Rock had reservations about this scene as well. Source he said Recently on In Touch, “Chris thinks it’s a fairly low cost stunt and tells people how lame he thinks it’s. This is a classic case of Will making light of a terrifying situation.

They argued that Smith was “playing the victim” in the face of what some called “the lowest point in his career.”

After months of silence, Rock addressed the matter in his live comedy special “Selective Outrage” on Netflix. He also withdrew from the Golden Globes last yr and has been attempting to keep a low profile since then.

“It irritates him that people keep bringing it up. He suffered just as much as Will, and now Will turned it into a funny scene in his movie. As for Chris, this is further proof that Will is a total piece of work and deserves all the crap he gets. “Chris isn’t going to let it go,” the source continued. “If there’s a way to get back at Will, he’ll use it.”

Rock joked that he needed to be paid to debate what happened, and his special aired per week before the 2023 Oscars. That same yr, he joined Dave Chappelle on stage for a performance at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Rock described the incident at the time, saying he “got hit by the softest n***a that ever rapped.”

Defending his wife’s honor, Smith got here on stage as Rock was presenting the award and punched Rock in the face for joking about “GI Jane” and Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness. The moment led to Smith’s 10-year ban from the Oscars and helped his wife divulge heart’s contents to the world about her struggle with baldness.

And there’s still no apology from Rock to the “Matrix” star.
