Former ‘Bachelorette’ Rachel Lindsay Reveals How Tia Mowry Helped Her Through Her Divorce Process

As Destiny’s Child once sang: in difficult times, sometimes all you wish is yourself “Girls.” For former “Bachelorette” author and podcast host Rachel Lindsay, her friend, actress Tia Mowry, was an enormous source of support during her divorce from Bryan Abasolo.

After finalizing her own divorce in April 2023, Mowry reportedly shared some “freeing” words of wisdom with Lindsay.

“She said, ‘Don’t look back; this will hold you back. Don’t look to the future; it will cause anxiety,” said Lindsay AND! News, recalling Mowry’s advice. “Every day, stay in the present, because every day you survive and become stronger.” And I tell myself this every morning… My biggest fear is losing control and that’s the space I’m in now. So when she told me that, I felt like a burden had been lifted. It was very freeing.”

In 2017, Lindsay made history as the primary black star of “The Bachelorette,” ABC’s hit reality show. She gave the ultimate rose and married Abasolo. Then in January 2024, the couple announced the tip of their marriage.

“Obviously, it’s a difficult time – if you’ve read the headlines,” admitted Lindsay, speaking in regards to the divorce on her podcast: “Higher Education with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay” “But truthfully, I would like to get away from myself and the very best solution to do this is to do something I like and I like ‘Higher Learning’… I’m not going to speak about it. I’ll do it will definitely, but now just isn’t the time. I just attempt to take it sooner or later at a time.

Lindsay said that since her divorce, she now not worries about things she will’t control and tries to remain in the current by participating in healing activities similar to traveling and accepting things as they arrive.

“I do things that can heal me on the inside, and then I will be better on the outside,” she said, emphasizing how helpful self-care and self-reflection have been. “It’s meditation, prayer, exercise, getting outside and being at one with nature, spending more time with family and friends, changing my hair color so I can look and feel good.”

Like Lindsay, Mowry felt compelled to go on a healing journey after her divorce from fellow actor Cory Hardrict, her husband of 14 years. Believing in the ability of dialogue, the “Sister, Sister” star spoke very truthfully in regards to the “waves of emotions” that accompany divorce.
