SpaceX unveiled Starlink Mini, a more portable version of its satellite Internet product that is sufficiently small to slot in a backpack.

Early Starlink Customers were invited to buy the Starlink Mini kit for $599, in response to an invite sent to customers and viewed by TechCrunch. That’s $100 greater than the usual Starlink kit. They were also given the choice to bundle Mini Roam with their existing service plan for a further $30 per 30 days, although data volume is capped at 50 gigabytes per 30 days.

This would mean that a Starlink consumer using the usual service plan would spend $150 per 30 days. As written within the invitation, SpaceX intends to scale back the worth of the set. There is currently no standalone Mini Roam plan.

“Our goal is to lower the price of Starlink for those around the world where connectivity is unattainable or completely unavailable,” he says. “However, in high-congestion regions where Starlink Mini increases demand for the satellite network, we are offering a limited number of Starlink Mini kits starting at $599.”

The Mini Antenna is incredibly light: it weighs about 2.5 kilos with the support, which is barely about 60% of the load of a typical Starlink antenna. The service also offers maximum download speeds of over 100 Mbps

The first Starlink Minis will arrive sometime in July. This option will undoubtedly appeal to travelers and the CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk said on the X program that the Mini may very well be “a great, affordable option for providing a good backup internet connection if your landline goes down.”

Starlink is SpaceX’s popular satellite web product, currently powered by over 6,000 satellites in orbit. The service boasts over 3 million customers in 100 countries.
