With a rookie class that features household names like teammate Kamila Cardoso, Cameron Brink of the Los Angeles Sparks, Jacy Sheldon of the Dallas Wings and her rival Caitlin Clark, Reese is emerging as a bona fide star.

“I wanted more for myself. I wanted to start over,” Reese said when asked why she decided to go to the WNBA somewhat than stay at LSU for one more season.

“I feel like I’ve been at the top since the national championship and now I want to hit rock bottom. I want to be a rookie again. I want the vets to knock me down, I want to get up and grow and become a sponge.”

Reese could also be getting knocked down considering her team’s current 4-9 record, but that does not imply she’s the reason behind it. A double-double average is proof of her value and what the longer term holds for her.
