Fans accuse Tyler Perry of using real-life breakups of Meagan Good, Cory Hardrict and Richard Lawson for ‘Raw Emotion’ in new film ‘Divorce in Black’

Tyler Perry fans are left to take a position about whether art imitates life or the opposite way around when his new film “Tyler Perry’s Divorce” brings together a solid of stars who’ve all experienced failed love.

The Amazon MGM Studios film was written, produced and directed by Perry. The major character is Megan Good, who plays Ava, and her on-screen husband, Dallas, is played by actor Cory Hardrict. Good’s parents are played by Hollywood veterans Richard Lawson and Debbi Morgan.

The trailer was released on June 13 and depicted a twisted love story a couple of failed marriage, molestation, stalking and other evil deeds that leave Ava fighting for her life and a second probability at love.

The romantic thriller’s blog reads: “Ava, a young bank worker, is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons the wedding she is decided to fight for until fate intervenes, exposing Dallas’ wicked deeds which have ruined their marriage and once sabotaged Ava’s destiny is to be loved by your true soul mate.

When it involves matters of the guts, Good, Hardrict and Lawson have been making headlines over the past two years. Some hopeful viewers suspect that Perry intentionally solid these three actors in hopes that they’d draw on their personal experiences in the project.

“Cory Hardrict, Megan Good and Richard Lawson have all divorced in the last few years! It should be very raw and emotional acting in this movie.” he tweeted one person.

Other person he wrote, “Hmmm! Haven’t all of them passed through divorce???? Cory Hardrick, Meagan Good and Beyoncé’s mother’s ex-husband… this role ought to be very easy… Because they do not have to dig too deep. Third comment read: “I select 2 recently divorced people as stars. Coincidence, I do not think so.”

Cory Hardrict and Tia Mowry

The “All American: Homecoming” actor has been divorced from his ex-wife Tia Mowry for a 12 months. The couple separated after 14 years of separation in October 2022. Their divorce was settled in just six months, with each parties agreeing to share joint custody of their two children, son Cree and daughter Cairo.

Their breakup initially got here as a shock to fans. “These decisions are never easy and not without sadness. “The creation of Divorce In The Black was born out of a desire to inform Ava’s story. She is surrounded by all this strength through her foundation of family and friends,” Perry said Deadline. “She has all this power inside her, but in some way that power is lost in her marriage. That’s why it was essential for her character to seek out her way and show this journey back to her power.

“Black Divorce” begins July 11 on Prime Video.
