A Detroit hair salon owner added representation to the natural hair care space with the release of her first-ever natural hair dictionary.

Mo Williams, founder of Black-owned Metro Detroit hair salon Such a Natural, is the writer and publisher of a groundbreaking latest book that precisely defines natural hair and hairstyles. Part of the Natural Hair Dictionary’s “List of Natural Hairstyles,” the dictionary serves as a guide with titles, descriptions, and over 60 original photographs, each offering detailed definitions of various natural hairstyles.

This latest, comprehensive resource is a useful tool in the beauty industry, and is the culmination of over a decade of Williams’ experience in natural hair care.

“Many questions have been asked over the years and people have been unsure about natural hair and what natural hairstyles/titles actually are for a myriad of reasons” – Williams he said

“Because some of the best solutions come in the simplest form, this was a glaringly obvious solution to the problem. “Getting information gives you the opportunity to identify and make informed decisions that can be critical.”

Williams has already created an internet platform to attach the natural hair community with local natural hairdressers. The website serves as a home directory, listing hair salons and stylists by state and services offered.

As a result, the natural hair community is ready to save lots of time and put aside the frustration of trying to find a natural hairstylist. The online directory provides a quantitative list of natural hair care providers and the services they provide (non-heated), based on their city and state.

“Over the years, we have heard countless times how difficult it is to find natural hair stylists,” the website reads. “So we desired to make it easier. We did the be just right for you. Creating a list of natural hairdressers and salons, making it a central place for the collective to seek out the services they need.
